Ken,
That is totally up to you and your comfort level. IF the purchase price is reasonable (you can find plenty of pricing by online searches) and you like the vehicle, then take it to the next step. Since you are not mechanically inclined, take a mechanic with you who can inspect the car bumper to bumper and point out any inconsistencies or potential mechanical issues.

How install the horn assembly in the steering column of a1964 Cevrolet Impala
The horn is negative ground operated. When U push the button it makes a ground and honks. If you don't have it installed the wire is touching metal that's why it honks.
When the horn is pushed it completes the circuit. As to reassembly Very hard to explain so I suggest you get a pic on line from repair manual try Auto Zone site free. You can use the book from mid 60's thru early 70's for Chevy, buick, olds, pontiac or cady gmc truck The horns are all basically the same,

When I want to shut off the engine it seen like it want to keep turning 1955 Chevy belair 235 engine
you need more lead in your fuel ! that's probably because it`s an old car it ran on much richer fuel than the unleaded that we have today ! if you want ....,turn the key off while its in drive , and it'll go right off , and then put it in park.... that way you'll save the clang and you can also purchase trick fuel ! i have a 64 Dodge Dart , i had same problem at one time . Phillip 76 stations carry trick fuel.
My 4 speed car whe put in reverse still goes forward
Your shifter didn't transition to the reverse gate, and probably is stuck in a forward gear. Get it on a lift where you can safely get under and move the linkage to the neutral position. If it happens again, check adjustment and lubrication of the shifter and the linkages from tranny to shifter.
