Need rewind pulley for generator ET 1000 (or SPT 1000) model # on unit is 02415

it seems to be the standard that the rating or model ??1000 or ??1500 or ??2500 or ??5000 or??5500 or ??6500 is the kv rating of the gen-set regardless of straight or inverter
so if yours is EF1000 it will be 1000 watts or 1 kv
remember that most electric drills are 1000 watt units so a unit this small is mostly good for lights, charging batteries, small compressors for tyres

That is the fun part! You have to leave the handle end free, as in no handle on it, put a good knot in one end of your new pull cord, feed it through the hole in the pulley, feeding it out so you can pull it back into the space where the pulley is. Should be a slot on the pulley to bring it up in. Wind pulley against spring, same direction as normally pulled when starting, will need three to six rounds, can't tell how many cause it varies. Stick cord out hole to where handle should be while keeping tension on spring so you don't lose it. Tie handle on and try it. You may have to adjust rounds against spring and length of cord until you get it right. Good luck!

Did you remember to "wind" the cord when you replaced it. They normally have a spring type of set up that you have to wind before you bolt everything together.

This works best with two people. Remove cover and pull cord will be inside cover. If your handle on pull cord is attatched to a metal ring up on the handle, you will need 8 foot of new pull cord.
With all the old cord removed, wind cord pulley 6 revolunations, now, have someone hold the pulley, while you string the new cord thru pulley and out the cord hole on cover. Be sure to put a knot on the end going thru pulley. Draw cord all the way thru and out of the cover. Attatch the handle and let it rewind. You will have extra cord, this will be used up going from engine up the handle. I hope this helps

Since you didn't tell us what brand of engine it is or a model number of the mower I can only guess that it is a Briggs & Stratton because that is the one that most folks have trouble figuring out.

This is a relatively simple process, but you have to be VERY careful when doing this. The spring is long, under some tension and has sharp edges. Anytime you are dealing with the manual rewind starter assembly, there is risk of the spring coming out and possibly injuring yourself or others. If you do not feel comfortable performing this repair, I strongly suggest visiting one of our many authorized dealers in your area and have them do this for you.
You will have to remove the gas tank to get at the rewind and blower housing. Remove the entire blower housing and rewind assembly and turn it upside down.
NOTE:You do not have to drill out the rivets to get to the back of the rewind assembly. This is only necessary if you are removing the ENTIRE rewind assembly, (metal housing and all) and are separating it from the blower housing.
You'll need a pair of vise grips or a screw driver, some rewind rope, a long thin sharp tip flexible object (the wire from a coat hanger may work) and a lighter handy.

1. Take the pulley and start to turn it so that the rope becomes loose.
   
2. Remove the rope.
   
3. Once the pulley is all the way out, with the most tension, either use the screwdriver between the spokes of the pulley, or use the vise grips to hold the pulley in place; be careful not to place too much pressure on the vise grips, the plastic pulley may break!
   
4. Make sure that the hole in the pulley lines up with the hole on the rewind assembly.
   
5. Using the wire from the coat hanger, push the rope through the hole of the rewind and pulley. Pull the rope through the pulley and tie it off. Now use the lighter to burn the end of the rope to prevent the not from coming off.
   
6. Now, remove the screwdriver or vise grips, while holding on to the pulley.
   
7. SLOWLY let go of the pulley and the rope should feed back into the pulley as you do this.

hi you need to wind the spring to put tension on it depending on the type of recoil starter it is faily easy or dam near impossible "nothin is impossible "
take the compleate starter assembly off the motor and undo the rope from the starter / fit a new piece of rope 12 ins longer than origonal turn the center piece anti clockwise 2 turns ,this will wind the spring up wind the new rope on to the pulley put the handle on so you can feel it pull back and knot it so it has tension on it hpoe that helps merlin v12

I would look at the honda and yamaha generators. Their small gensets are unbeatable and rugged as they come. Dependable as sunshine.
But, that's just my opinion!
