I had the same problem. The thing that was most frustrating is that I have a standard tool to remove and install screw in watch backs, but Timex in its infintie wisdom, decided to make this model withta snap-in back.

I tired usinga a set of adjustable locking pliers with rubber claw covers. I tried holding one side with finger and thumb while using the pliers on the other to no avail.

robatbath's answer about jewelers having a special press led me to a solution. I just happened to have (2) 1.25" steel washers with 1/4 inch holes. I placed one on the face and one on the back. This way I could use the locking pliers (with rubber covers on) to press in the center of each side. The back snapped in fine. You can get washers and pliers at any hardware store.

I tried to replace the battery in my Timex Expedtion ( 930 P9 ) and dropped this super tiny screw that holds the battery in place. Any idea where I can get a replacement?

Jewellers have a special press or pliers for replacing 'snap back' cases. If you can't replace it yourself by putting the watch on a hard surface, protecting the glass and pushing down evenly then sometimes only the proper tools will do the job...

Need to change battery on TImex Expedition. How do you remove the back?

The timex has a press fit back with an O ring to seal it. You really need a special tool which is like a large coin with a thin but strong edge that doesn't bend, or you can use a flat screwdriver with a 1mm end but thinner than the usual electrical screwdriver. You can grind down a cheap screwdriver, but I have had them snap on me in the past. If you look at the back with a magnifying glass you will see a bit at about five past the hour (with the "crown" button at a quarter past the hour) where you insert the edge of the lever tool/screwdriver. The arrow should be pointing to the crown button (the "winder button"). Replacing is a matter of pressing the back on. If your fingers haven't enough strength, find someone who has the strength - don't use pliers, hammers, G clamps etc. If you are careful you can place it face down on a thin carpeted floor, having removed any metal bracelet, and "tread" the back on. But no guarantees for this last method....

Both Times and Casio have a WR50M you did not say what type of watch you have.

Use the numbers on the back of your watch and you will have a PDF version of your instruction manual.

Hope this tip helps

How to replace battery for Timex expedition

Remove the four screws that hold the battery cover on the back of the watch. Remove the 3 very small screws that hold the battery in place. Remove the battery from the battery holder. The piece that the 3 small screws were removed from seperates from the 3 volt 2016 energizer battery. Replace the battery with a new one. Re-install the battery holder to the watch. There is a small tab on the lower left part of the battery holder that needs to be depressed to activate the watch. Depress it and look at the face of the watch to make sure it is activated. The watch will need to have the time, date etc reset but you should now be able to see that the battery is working. Replace the battery cover and reset the time and date as needed.

Timex Men's Digital Expedition Chrono Alarm Timer Watch battery

hi
please follow the steps to change the battery
  1. Step 1 Make sure the little arrow on the back is aimed to the right. Then, insert a small flat head screwdriver into the notch on the edge, and lever the back open. Place the back to one side.
  2. Step 2 Unscrew the clip holding the battery (if your model has a clip), and remove the battery.
  3. Step 3 Use plastic tweezers to put in a new battery. Do not directly touch the new battery. Screw the clip (if it has one) back on.
  4. Step 4 Replace the gasket that seals the watch. Then lightly coat the gasket with a silicone-based grease.
  5. Step 5 Align the back with the little arrow aimed to the right again, then carefully press the watch between two pieces of wood that are being held by a small vise, until the back seats itself.
thank you....

Timex expedition compass battery replacement?

hi
i am not an expert in this particular case but i followed theses below steps . here are they.....

Unscrew the case back with a case back tool (aka Jaxa wrench) which engages
the notches in the case back. I'm assuming the watch has a screw back - if
it has notches it does. Pop out the old battery.

In some watches you have to
unscrew a clip but in most the battery pops right out. Examine movement for
evidence of battery leakage or other damage. Carefully clear away any crud
at the edge of the case - the tiniest metal shaving will short out the coil.
Install new battery of same type. Handle new battery with non-metal tweezers
or rubber gloves, never bare fingers. Inspect case back gasket or preferably
just replace it with new o-ring of same size. Gasket should be lubricated
with silicone grease. Reinstall case back using wrench. If you are
concerned with water resistance the watch needs to be tested in a pressure
test machine. I'm sure the pros have more tips but this should suffice for a
Timex where it would not be a big loss to damage or break the watch.

i hope you can successfully replace the battery
thank you

Skagen ladies watch

izzi, I assume you have a snap back back that won't snap back in place. I had the same problem with a Timex EXpedition. The solution should be similar. See my post" http://www.fixya.com/support/t190459-watch_battery_replacement and also the site I reference there. http://www.online-batteries.co.uk/whichbattery.shtml Good luck, Richard
