Hi, the zoom function on top of my G9 has suddenly stopped working properly....it is now quite sloppy and doesn't control zoom accurately?Any ideas? Thank you Nick

A good possibility is the zoom head is causing the clicking sound. As we zoom the flash, the inside of the head moves to the back and forward. Gently tap it a few times see if that helps. My guess is it needs servicing.

Check to make sure that the two right strap lug screws are in place. One or more coming out and falling into the mechanism is a common fault on this model

So you're pressing the Zoom button but it has no effect, am i correct?

There can be 2 issues - small (dust/moisture), not small(inside button gone bad).

Small Issue: Keep the camera in sunlight(not very hot) for a while. (not loaded). Wipe off with clean lint-free cotton cloth. Keep it again in sunlight for a while. If moisture is the issue then it should go off, though i have seen in some cases it took 3-4 days and suddenly it started working.

If still no response from Zoom then the internal zoom small button has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Send it for repairs.

Control switch block is defective in your CCD-TRV99 camcorder and requires replacement, part number is as follows..

Its complete switch block that has tele-zoom,playback, stop, rewind/ forward and pause etc buttons.

Hi, You need to replace the switch block control whic has all you play and zoom functions. Or, you could use your remote control to do these functions instead.

I too have the exact same problem, and an online search turns up others with similar Casio Exilim models, with the same problem. It involves a malfunctioning Disp, Zoom, and non-functioning Set button, with all other functions working OK. Casio Support seems to recognize the problem, and indicates it has to be fixed at one of their authorized repair centers. Start with their online system: https://www.ecasiorepair.com/

Regarding remote control, sorry to say but it's very limited. With RM-VD1 you can only: ON/OFF Shutter release 1st and 2nd step Zoom in/out (except with F828 which has manual zoom) Rec/Stop (only with a camcorder)
