Start with the basics. Check condition of fuel lines and fuel filter. May need a simple adjustment by backing out on the low mixture screw just enough to give you a smooth "throttle up". You may also need to open the high mixture screw to obtain proper high speed. If adjustments do not correct the problem, you could be looking at overhauling or replacing the carburetor, whichever is more cost effective. Hope this helps.

STARTS OK WITH PUMPING THE FUEL BULB AND CHOKING AFTER SEVERAL PULLS AN DRUNS IN IDLE BUT WHEN I TRY TO GIVE IT GAS IT DIES.

Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:

You will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Make sure the small screen is free of debris. (Should be able to see daylight through it.)

Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152),to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

If the carb. parts are more than 4 years old, you may have to replace them.

If you need further assistance on:
1. Fuel line replacement or
2. Carburetor kit replacement

Just let me know.

Difficulty adjusting carb for smooth idle and full power tilling

Your quickest fix for this problem is to simply replace the carburetor, a Zama K54A. Do it all the time. After that, if you can find a 2 cycle oil, Opti-2, it's the best you can use and it's a one mix for all your 2 cycle equipment (blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, etc.) It's the only 2 cycle I sell in my shop.
