Water is leaking and freezing on the top two selves near the rear on the refrigerator. My unit of about 10 years old and just has the freezer on the top and the refrigerator on the top. No signs of leaking anywhere else. Both the refrigerator and freezer are still cold.

The problem is the drain is clogged. Remove the back panel in your freezer and at the bottom of the evaporator coil you will see a hole about ½" in diameter this is the drain tube. Try using a turkey baster to flush out the drain tube. You might need to use some warm water to melt the ice and then run a wire being very careful not to puncture the hose and run it down the tube to free up the drain. This tube travel down to the bottom of your refrigerator to a pan sometimes located on top of the compressor or somewhere else down there. It collects the water there to evaporate. After cleaning mix a 50 -50 solution of baking soda and water and run some down the drain tube this should help prevent future clogs. You can enter your model # at www.appliancehelponline.com for a diagram or illustration of your refrigerator. Not all models are available.

I have an admiral refigerator (top freezer) less than 3 years old. The unit sat in a vacant house unplugged for about a year and now will not cool. Any suggestions

Good day,
Check in the freezer compartment to see if you can hear the fan motor running. They will freeze up if left off for extended periods of time.
Another fan motor on the bottom back near the compressor can suffer the same fate.
If both check O.K. Then since it's under 5 years you could have a refrigerant leak or a compressor problem that is under factory warranty.
Call your selling dealer for service.

Have the fridge pulled out and check behind it. I had same model and it was leaking into my walls/floor and caused thousands of dollars in damage to my kitchen. BLACK MOLS Covered my walls/cabinets and made me sick. Please be very careful with this excess water coming from this model. GE should recall it but will not unless forced. Not Cool.

Make sure that the freezer fan is working and circulating the cold air. Then check the damper assembly to make sure that cold air is being circulated into the refrigerator. And lastly make sure that the self defroster is working - if not the evaporator will freeze up, freezer temps go up, and ice maker will not work if freezer temps are 10 degrees or higher. A digital refrigerator thermometer will confirm freezer temps being high.

Hi GE top freezer fridge - 5 years old( no ice

Well for one thing that unit was manufactured 10 years ago. But it sounds like the defrost drain is clogged and the water is running down the inside of the unit. The evaporator (not condenser) is on the bottom of the freezer compartment. The bottom panel of the freezer comes out. They are a bit of a pain to do, but can be done.

Whirlpool runs, but freezer not freezing and frig not freezing

If the compressor is running but the unit is not cooling you may have lost the refrigerant.  See if the condenser coils at the back or bottom are hot.  If they are only warm then the refrigerant is low and can be recharged.  Service tech should check for leak in coolant system.

Samsung Fridge Freezer leaking water

hi August.
Cause: A blocked defrost drain is one of the most common causes of water leakage. This happens when food particles or other debris clogs up the drain hose, which can lead to ice buildup and, eventually, water leaking out of the freezer and refrigerator.
3 common refrigerator problems you can easily fix yourself

The freezer drain hose will drain the defrost water into a drip pan at the bottom of the freezer. When this pan becomes full, it will leak water onto the floor. This is a regular maintenance task whenever the freezer defrosts. Empty the drip pan during the defrost cycle.
How to Fix Water Leaking From the Bottom of Freezer

Why is my fridge leaking water on the floor? If the refrigerator is leaking water it's possible that the refrigerator has a clogged or freezing defrost drain. If the defrost drain freezes the defrost water will overflow the drain and drip down to the bottom of the compartment, If enough water accumulates in the bottom it can run out onto the floor.

GE top freezer refrigerator automatic ice cube maker leaks water into the freezer, and eventually on the floor. Water seems to be coming from the area that fill up to make more ice cubes.

If it is leaking water in the freezer it will more than likely freeze amongst the ice cubes causing a block of ice.

It is more than likely leaking at the rear of the unit, near the valve or fill tube for the ice, this will run up the rear wall of the unit.

Water acculation in refridgerator.

I had a similar problem with my old hotpoint frig (top freezer, bottom frig). the defrost cycle would come on and melt the ice, but since the drain plug in the back of the freezer below the coils would eventually freeze up closed due to ice accumulation. It got to the point I had to shut down the whole unit and leave it open for around 8 hours to let it naturally melt the ice in the drain tube. I hear a gurgle sound and then a sound of water flowing, so I knew it was now draining again.
