Your camera model is one of a number of cameras that had defective CCD imager's installed. These CCD's were produced by Sony and installed in multiple brands of cameras. There was a time when Sony would have repaired this problem for your for free, but has since stopped this offer. Canon, on the other hand is still repairing this problem for free for a number of their cameras that had the Sony CCD installed. If you contact Sony and make this argument, who knows, you may get lucky. If not, remember to consider Canon for your next camera purchase ;-)

This is common problem of ccd imager chip failure in DSC-T3 camera, ccd imager chip replacement will fix this problem and you will get correct live view image in camera mode.
Please check with local camera repair shop for ccd image chip replacement as it is not user level repair and camera will take apart in detail.
