My camera won't charge or power up. I bought a new charging/sync USB cable for it, but the charge light is not lighting up. The camera doesn't power up even when plugged in. I hit the reset button, and the LED next to it blinks red once. I'm not quite sure what that means.
Do I need a new battery, or does it seem like something worse and not worth the battery purchase?
Thanks
Dan

Hello, reset in this case is not a solution. Maybe your lens is stuck. For further info please contact me at LIVE session. Best regards, Arpi

Hey stacytwo,
I would try cleaning the battery contacts first with a cotton swab, and if this doesn't work I would try initializing the camera back to its factory default settings as described on page 53 of your camera manual. If these options don't work I would try purchasing a new battery. I have included a link to a PDF download of your camera manual in case you need it. I hope this helps!
Sincerely,
Allan

SOURCE: Seems like batteries don't work, but . . .
I think the problem was either dirty battery contacts or a broken connection somewhere with the battery terminals. I'd cleaned the contacts a number of times with a pencil eraser before, but nothing worked. This time, I just did it again and paid careful attention that both contacts on the battery door were protruding properly--could be that one of the contacts got pushed back such that it wasn't making proper battery contact. All I know is that it's working now, perfectly, after sitting for a couple of years on the shelf. I really like this camera.

i think the red light means low power for battery... maybe just maybe your battery didnt really charge.. im not saying that its the charger, but try to buy a new rechargeable batteries, use it then charge it and compare it with the other one... i think thats the problem with batteries if we stop using it for a long time... hope ull be able to resolve it
SOURCE: my T1 is experiencing power problems. I have
DSC T1 li-ion batteries goes bad in a period of 3 to 5 years of continusly use (daily). i will recommend to buy a spear charger that charges the batteries without using the camera.
