The LCD-screen seems to work normal. But when we take a picture (camera-mode normal and record-mode normal) the result is overlighted and misty and full of horizontal lines. In video mode the camera works normal. We can also still access photos already taken.

Try to use a different setting like a bright light setting to see if the apeture is closed down further and brings back focus.
the problem is the auto focus which can be going stray and is not setting right. So take time to shoot with the shutter button down to half to allow it to focus and then once the indication of the focus has confirmed to click.
If not contact Sony service for help.

Would like to record in 16:9 ratio but am not sure of the results? goof or bad?

You may record in either wide-screen or normal mode. If you record in wide-screen mode, the video will appear compressed when played back on a normal TV. For full details refer to the "Using the wide mode" section of the manual on page 32 of the manual.

LCD screen is blank in normal picture mode. I

This Camera has an CCD issue. It seems that the CCD of the Camera is gone bad. However, you may try resetting the Camera to the factory settings. If the issue persists, try power resetting the Camera. To power reset, remove the battery of the Camera and press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and reinsert the battery after one minute and check the operation. If the issue still persists, the service is required.

SD600 stuck in Video Recording mode

This worked for me. Take out battery and card. Wait a few minutes. Set camera in Auto (stil pic) mode. Replace card and battery, turn on. Select function, tab through all options returning to auto. Press function. This seems to be working, Let me know how this works for you. I found nothing on the Canon site. A sad commentary on the company.

Shooting mode shows nothing.

Hello,

I just had this issue with my camera (my 15 year old son solved it for me ;-) ).

The viewfinder was active in "record" mode and the LCD was "active" because you could see a little back light but no image. The "playback" mode would let me review pictures in the LCD though so I know it is capable of showing information.

If you push the display key/button a couple of times you can see the picture move from the viewfinder to the LCD and have just a picture and or a picture and information.

So try setting the camera to "record" mode (lens comes out) and then push the "display button" which is on the back of the camera just to the right of the LCD on the lower right side several times and see if the LCD starts to work.

It could be that somehow the display button was pushed by mistake.

No picture on my LCD

When in the taking mode- this SLR will not show an image as other cameras- because the mirror is down for the reflex view finder- this is normal for this type of camera although I understand there is a make/model that gets around this - but it is not the E-v 500 just like my E-v 300
