Digital temperature changes to 86 every time your set it to a lower temperature how do I fix this

If this set temp changes on its own then the circuit board has failed. Call a service tech or replace the unit. But this 86° might be the indoor temp, not the set temp? If I set my temp to 75°, then my temp goes to 86°, then the set temp (target temp) is 75° & actual room temp is 86°. The unit may not be working properly. Not sure if this helps.

Outside unit runs for about 5 seconds then shuts off for a few seconds. It repeats this cycle.

Put in a 5 minute time delay. It is a two wire device in line with the contactor. Sounds like it is set to 75 turns of at 74 and repeats. The tstat should have a differential of 2 degrees as well.

We have a MXZ-3A30NA that does not seem to be cooling down the house. Indoor temps are reading 75 to 78 degrees and the units are set at 65. We have gone through the book and have followed the check list...

Hi!!

Check the following:

Make sure the filter and the evaporator coil are clean. Also check condenser coil in the outside unit is clean.

When unit is turned on there should be (on the led display, inside unit) one green light on for the blower and another one for the compressor, both lights should be ON untill the unit reaches the preset temp. If the light for the compressor (usually the light on the right side) does not stay ON, check the outside unit.

On the outside unit, check that when turned on, both the fan and the compressor kick in and stay running. If the fan motor stops, the compressor overheats and the thermal proteccion shuts it down to prevent damage. Also, if the R22 gas is low, the low pressure switch prevents the compressor from running.

Good Luck!!

My air conditioner will kick on but will stay on and not

The thermostat is not functional, therefore its not cutting off the compressor once the room air gets cooled to the temp setting of the thermostat, also the refrigerant gas may have leaked out some but not the entire refrigerant gas(freon, CF4, etc.), keeping the compressor running contentiously to come down to the set temp..............sodeep

Our thermostat is set at hold with the fan on auto. The house and cool temp is set at 75 degrees, yet the fan will stay on CONTINUOUSLY unless I manually take down the temperature OR the outside temp falls...

it is ok to run your fan continously. constant air filtering as long as it pauses before a/c cycles on. will not use any more electricity than a toaster. is there a fan programing feature on t-stat. if so you will need to turn programing to fan off

Oven won't heat up at all.

broiler on top of oven?? if so it might have a second ignitor that is working. Most units now with gas have an electric ignitor to start gas ovens. What they do is send electric current through an electric "wire", when enough current is flowing through wire to open gas valve the wire is hot enough to ignite the gas flowing over it. When you turn on the oven look at the burner and after 1 imute or so you should be able to see an Orange glow in bottom of oven if not I'm sure its the ignitor, if glows then probably oven valve is bad. I'd guess ignitor because most oven makers use this ignitor to mantain a warming temp (around 100 degree's) so since your display doesnt register over inital "start" temp of 75, i'd bet ingitor not coming on at all
