Do you have it set for closeups? Mine has one and it's placement made it easy to hit by accident just pulling it out of the case,

So I shoot all the beautiful pictures, including mule deer, in the wenatchee state forest in the mountain range onyl to find out, when I got home and saw them on a larger screen they appeared blurry and smudged.

How far is the image from you? Try a closeup on a flower, if it clears up you know it's switched.

Otherwise clean the lense with a lens kit.

I get a haze on all my pictures and noted smudge on lense. how do i clean lense on cannon powershot sd1300is

Get a microfiber cloth (piece of cloth normally sold with reading glasses) and wipe on the lens with it. This will remove the smudge/ dirt/ finger prints etc. on the lens. You have to switch on the camera so the lens is extended and reachable.

I have a Samsung Digital camera was working fine. I just turned it on and their is a black smudge on the display screen. It wasn't dropped or anything just appeared out of no where. It doesn't

Hi
As you say the camera is only a month old it should be under warranty, better advised to take it to the authorized service center. By the way if the smudge is on the LCD then I feel that the LCD is damaged due to pressure or force at that particular spot.

Viewfinder shows blurred images

First, rotate the mode selector dial to "Auto", then check to ensure that you're not in macro mode. Also make sure that your lens is clean and there are no smudge marks.

If you've done all the above, and you're still getting blurred images, this then might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check this link for more info.

Flashing horizontal stripes on screen while shooting

The following is from Canon. You can send the camera back for free repair. Hope this helps.

It has recently come to our attention that the vendor-supplied CCD image sensor used in this Canon digital camera may cause the following malfunction: When the product is used in recording or playback mode, the LCD screen and/or electronic viewfinder may exhibit either a distorted image or no image at all. While reports of this malfunction have been rare in the United States, we have determined that it may occur if the product is exposed to hot and humid environments.
Based on the information you have provided, it appears that you may have encountered this issue. To determine if the CCD (image sensor) is working properly, please follow these steps:

1. Insert a memory card with known good images on it into the camera.

2. Power the camera on to the Playback mode.

3. Press the DISPLAY (DISP) button to enable the LCD panel, and observe the LCD.

a. If the images are displayed properly, please proceed to step
four.

b. If the images are not displayed, or a "NO IMAGES" message appears, please ensure that the memory card contains known good images.

c. If the card contains known good images, and the issue persists with a second memory card, the camera will require service.

4. Switch the camera to the Camera mode. You may use any shooting mode(i.e. Auto, Manual).

5. Press the DISPLAY (DISP) button to enable the LCD panel.

6. Point the camera at a well-lit scene and observe the LCD and/or viewfinder. If the scene the camera is pointed at appears on the LCD and/or viewfinder, the CCD is operating properly. If the LCD and/or viewfinder remain black, the camera requires service.

Effective immediately, and regardless of warranty status, Canon will repair, free of charge, products exhibiting the above-mentioned
malfunction if the malfunction is caused by the CCD image sensor. Canon will also cover the cost of shipping and handling in connection with this repair.

We would like to send you a pre-paid shipping label so that you may send your camera to our Factory Service Center for repair. Please reply to this message with the following information so we may send the label:

2. Company (if any):
3. Shipping Address (include Street, City, State and Zip):

Camera display setting

do not believe the lcd will show you the image in the field of view. only the image when taken. the new eos1markIII will, but cost about 5500 on sale, usually about 7k. (worth every penny, if you are going to read the manual and use all the information to create exactly the image you desire.)
photography is a field that is fun and easy with point and shoot cameras. to be more creative, it takes some self discipline with study of the tool you are using to capture what you want. most of us just buy a camera and try to guess our way through. you will get dramatically better results if you spend the time to study the manual. ask questions.
your manual will advise you on the uses of the rear lcd.
good luck
