Hi,

Hotpoint supplies the orifices and instructions with each range for converting. It is just that it is hidden, they attach it to the gas regulator. The regulator is near the bottom back typically. Here is a cut out from your use and care manual.

CONVERTING TO LP GAS (or converting
back to natural gas from LP)
This range leaves the factory set for use with natural
gas. If you want to convert to LP gas, the conversion
must be performed by a qualified LP gas installer.
The conversion instructions and LP orifices can be found
attached to the range next to the pressure regulator.
Keep these instructions and the orifices in case you want
to convert back to natural gas.

I've just converted my stove from natural gas to propane and the oven and broiler flame are both to high, how can I lower them?

When converting from natural gas to propane you have to switch the regulator to propane. then on most modern stoves you have to turn the orifice hoods down to adjust for the higher pressure of propane. there are some stoves that you have to purchase a propane conversion kit with different orifices for the burners and oven burners.

How do I know if my Caloric Heritage gas range is propane or natural gas? It is a used stove that was given to us

Stoves are usually sent from the factory set for natural gas. they have to be converted to Propane. If it is set for propane the flame will be very low on natural gas. If set for natural gas on propane the flame will be very large. The orifices for natural gas are much larger than propane orifices. and the regulator is converted acordingly.

Broiler flame on hotpoint stove needs adjustment

as in height of flame? if its too large a flame and you have switched from natural gas to propane gas you must turn the orfice spud down onto the orfice face to adjust it,just land it lightly,do not turn it down overly tight

Can a kenmore gas stove be converted to propane

Yes.
If you have the owners manual it may tell you the location of the conversion parts that are probably included with the range.

Black is on the burners

the fuel to air mixture is set incorrectlty or your pressure at the ouitlet for the gas valve is too low.
you culd play around adjusting the first part of this but for the gas valve part you have to have a manaometer to check it out correctly. then it should be set at 10"wc. Good Luck
