How do I remove the plastic flywheel from the Mantis Tiller SV-4/B type 1-E so I can replace a frozen bearing. All other internals seem fine so it would be well worth replacing the bearings but I can't get the flywheel off without damaging it.I don't have a puller small enough to fit this wheel and if I did I believe it would break the plastic anyway. I tried carefully prying with 2 wide screwdriver and it doesn't work. There is some wiggle to it but it just wont come off. Thanks for reading and special thanks to anyone who can help.

SOURCE: mantis tiller sv-4 echo engine: no spark from coil

There are only 4 parts to the 2-stroke Mantis ignition system: the spark plug, the "kill button", the flywheel with embedded magnets, and the coil with integral plug wire. There are no "points" to clean or refurbish. If you've tried a new spark plug, unplugged the wire leading up the handlebars, and the magnets on the side of the flywheel are strong enough to attract a screw driver blade, then it must be a bad coil. That's all it could be. End of story.

Cruising the internet I see where these Echo coils go bad all the time. You can order the coil, but if the machine hasn't run in several years the carb will also need cleaning. So one thing leads to another. The gear box grease also needs replacing each year. What I'm trying to tell you is these are disposable tillers and due to length of time, incomplete care/ storage, ....whatever, this one's time is up.

Sorry.

SOURCE: what is left to do but change the flywheel?

check what they call air gap between the coil and flywheel .010-.012 gap
also be sure your flywheel is in time.
you will actually have to remove it to do this and check for the sheared key or be sure the key way aligns with the crankshaft keyway on the flywheel

SOURCE: mantis tiller sv-4 echo engine no spark from coil

Sounds like it's flooding either from over choking or the inlet needle in the carb is leaking. Have you removed the plug and blown out the cylinder and plug with air and then tried to restart? Be careful not to keep cranking with the choke pulled out. When it 'hits' ONE time, move the choke halfway in and crank again

Where is the engine number on mantis tiller an old one

In the Mantis 2-cycle tiller:
SV number is located between the gas tank & the carburetor, behind the gas line, on a black and silver tab on the silver engine housing. It will consist of the letters "SV," a number and another letter.

I also have Mantis tiller for 2 years. From the very beginning I had a problems. I was referred by Mantis to the repair store and was charged $90.00 for oil drainage. The second time I was waiting for handle replacement for ~ 1 month. This tiller can't handle even little jobs and the warranty doesn't worth a dime. Maybe I will be more successful using it in my living room . I have an equipment with Briggs and Stratton engines and I never had a problem.

To me Mantis mean big advertisement and waste of money.

How do you compress piston ring in Mantis tiller to re-install

I make one with tin snips and a tin can or sheet metal from an air duct. Make sure you have the ring with the right side "UP", the beveled edge (if there is one) goes up or toward the head.

Pull cord stuck

it sounds like the recoil spring in the "housing" is jammed( or something is broken) youll have to take this apart without breaking it. you may have internal engine damage if it was unusually hot and the pullcord jammed. try using a richer oil mixture for fuel also if you fix the pullcord. hope this helps, keep me posted.
