Sony DSC W55 lens wont go back in.

Mystery cameras are always a problem, but this looks like the Sony camera question I just answered a few minutes ago.

You need to connect it to a computer and then you can take off everything that is on the camera and take the camera to a Sony Service Centre for repair. Download the Software and Drivers.

It sounds like something has gotten into the "gears" of the lens. It can be something very small like a grain of sand. or something could have jarred the camera and caused the lens to come off of the track and now the lens wont retract. It can be pricey to fix and usually not worth it.

the part which comes out when the power is on might have got stuck .. there may be some dust particles. just blow over it or vaccum it..

Use bit more force to push or pull the lens as lens has been damaged. If applying bit more force lens goes to working, u saved $$$ otherwise, new lens option is always available at Sony repair shops.

Sounds like Nikon are just trying to get out of fixing it.
Have you read the terms of the warranty. If the screen is not working then it is more than likely an electronic fault and they are covered by the warranty. The only way the screen would not be covered is if it was damaged by the owner. The screen is part of the camera and therefore comes under the warranty, unless it specifically states that it is not covered in the warranty. Ask a consumer rights department. Don't take no for an answer.
