Clean under agitator on a Kitchen Aid top loading washing machine.

To remove the agitator to gently remove the cap from the top - it will have a rubber o-ring seal. Beneath it there should be a nut and washer assembly remove that. Then there should be a stack of agitator parts - clutch, upper agitator, lower agitator. Set them aside in the order you remove them. then back in the opposite manner.
Hope this helps.

My Kitchenaid washer stops on the rinse cycle...

Do you have an age of the machine and model number? Is there a "spin only" cycle? On older machines, there was a center knob you could slowly rotate, one click at a time, to advance it through its cycle. Can you do that? If the unit is agitating, I don't believe the belt is your issue. Age and model please.

probably wouldnt look under hte agitator for problem. although the trick is to hold t he agitator while loosening hte bolt, it will then lifts right off after bolt removed., i would remove hte cover and perhaps look for a broken spring , bleach sometimes falls through rusting out metal brackets
