Homelite generator model # LR 5500 not producing electricity
Homelite generator model # LR 5500 not producing any power/electricity engine runs fine no power at out lets or braker's. I need some testing procedures.

Call Onan and tell them the Inverter Board is bad. If you're not producing AC Power, have them send you a new board or warranty the entire genset. It's unusual for Onan products to go out like that, but not unlikely that this is the source of the problem.
Typically, the DC motor outputs at 12 volts, so the leads going in to the inverter are only going to be a ground and a positive lead. Should be very simple to replace. Worst case scenario is you can hook an external inverter up to the DC leads on the front of that generator. Might not get the full 5.5kw from the system, but you'll be able to produce some power.
On Thursday last week I had 220 amp outlet being used and a 110 amp outlet being and overloaded the generator. It turned out to be the reset breakers failed to trip and blew the capacitor. The reset breakers I would suggest replacement after 7 years very easy to do on a 5500 Valsi generator 2010 model still running and now producing electric. And of course use only regular gas non Ethanol.
Generator is a device that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy for use in an external circuit. At present, generators are widely used in industry and agriculture, national defense, science and technology as well as our daily life.
First check with the
dealer and see if it is still under warranty. If it is not, make sure nothing
is blocking the air flow around where the control modules are located. This
could cause the voltage regulator and other electronic parts to overheat. Next
check the brushes and make sure they are free of any dust or build up preventing
them from making contact. If everything is OK the
next thing I would do is change the voltage regulator.
If the engine is running but no output from the plugs....the VERY common problem is loss of magnetism in the generator after storage. With the generator off......... Look at the side of the generator part.....do you see a small + and - on any terminals? You may have to take a cover off. Take a 9 volt battery and momentarily put current from this small battery through these terminals. Now.....start her up and check for power at the plugs. This fixes 75% of "no output" after being "stored" generators.
Sometimes the generator loses the magnetic field that allows it to produce power. Do a Google search on "flashing a generator field". There are many ways to do it, but I would recommend doing some reading before trying it. Your "dead" generator could produce hazardous voltage once it comes back to life.
Also, before trying any of this, make sure the circuit breakers on the generator (if equipped) are not tripped.
