At home, you are not making your own laundry detergent, you are making soap. Soaps and detergents are not the same thing.

The soap does not rinse out as well as the detergent and it tends to build up on clothes. This is because the soap will combine with the magnesium and calcium ions in hard water and will create an insoluble residue.

Also the soap is is less powerful than the synthetic detergent and tends to lose its cleaning power over time.

Your washer may require HE laundry detergent. Or your detergent is not compatible with the specifications the washer was designed to function under. Using improper detergent can cause operational issues and void warranties.

You NEED to buy real washing soap from a store. I recommend Tide because you may be mixing wrong ingredients or not adding something. If buying new/real soap doesnt work i would go to a sears or email sears at their website and tell them.

How does soap dispenser work? what does up for liquid and down for powder mean?

Liquid laundry soap (comes in plastic liquid container) uses the up. Dry powder laundry soap uses the soap that comes in a box, therefore not liquid. and uses the down switch slider control.

Can you use granular soap and where to apply it? we have a frigidaire washer with a drawer to put liquid soap in.

On our washer there is a little slider in that drawer that allows the opening into the washer to open wider for solid laundry soap. Maybe that's the case in yours. If not then you might be confined to using HE liquid soap.

My GE Profile washing machine leaves soap suds in the bottom and on the clothes. I use Cheer liquid detergent. My husband says it is because of placing too heavy of items, such as towels, in the machine....

Use ONLY the recommended amount of detergent per the label on the detergent.
Pour detergent in the tub first then start the water, then add the laundry.
Do not overload the machine.
Use a bathroom scale to weigh 12-15 pounds of laundry and no more.
Big tubs invite more laundry.
Don't be fooled by a big tub.

My washer will only dislove the powder saop on warm or hot cycle and now it won't let any water in to the tub at all why

You MUST use "HE" (High Efficiency-Low Suds) type detergent--but to use the correct amount.
Nearly all brands of "HE" detergent have incorrect instructions.

The correct amount is as follows:

HE: (2) Tablespoons Per Wash load

HE 2X (double concentrated) : (1) Tablespoon

HE 3X (triple concentrated): (1) Teaspoon

Where do you add laundry products?

There is a drawer on the top left hand side, next to the circular dial. Pull it out and it is labeled. For liquid soap, there is an insert that goes in the soap area. Don't use liquid soap unless that is present!

Laundry Detergent

this usually depends on the type and brand of detergent you use. for example if you use standard detergent and it takes 1 cup, then you use concentrated detergent and it takes 1/2 cup. you have to check the detergent container for proper amount to use. for most detergents it is around 3/4 to 1 cup of detergent.
Ps. dont forget to rate my answer please. Thanks.

Laundry detergent

Why do you want to use a special detergent??? Tide works fine! You just need to use about 1/4-1/2 what is used in the American machines. Now if you really want some exceptional laundry detergent like we use in Europe, buy Persil (google it).
