Re: diesel tractor ran out of fuel now it won't start
Agree with with previous answer. Check your fuel filter & make sure it's full of fuel, usually the problem if the motor wont start after running it out of fuel.

Your owners should have that information. Should be a bleeder valve around the fuel filter. If not crack open the injector line and crank until fluid comes out. Do not make a mess.
what fuel is it as it can be air in a diesel so you have to bleed it. or you have damaged your fuel pump in a gas car in the uk we call that a petrol car .you pump needs fuel to cool it.
you have to vent the air in the injection pump crack the injector pipes and crank the engine till fuel come out then re secure the pipes it will start then
Are you certain it is a fuel problem and not electrical? Remove fuel line right before it enters carburetor, turn mower over and see if fuel is pumping out. If not, check for any foreign material in fuel tank where fuel exits the tank to the fuel line. You can do this by blowing pressured air into fuel tank and observe if fuel is coming out of end of fuel line. Check for clogged fuel filter.
This is not unusual on a diesel. What happens is there is air in the system. If this vehicle has an electric fuel pump loosen line where fuel enters injection pump then turn ignition key to the on position and watch for fuel to appear and then quickly tighten line before turning off key. Then try to start. If does not have electric fuel pump will need a second person. One will loosen line and watch while other cranks vehicle until you get fuel and tighten line before the other person releases ignition switch unless vehicle starts first. If that doesn't do the job do this where line hooks onto each injector. Probably will not have to do this to all injectors but could run rough until all the air gets out of everything. I have farmed with diesel tractor for 25 years and dad I drove the gm vehicles with the 5.7. You normally don't start a diesel without bleeding the air out of the lines although some will self bleed most won't. Hope this does the trick.
This is very important for Audi 1.9 TDI engine: IT IS FORBIDDEN TO RUN WITHOUT DIESEL FUEL IN RESERVOIR !!!
This type of engine is equipped with pump-nozzle injectors which develop up to 2050 bar injection pressure !
Remove the fuel filter, fill up with diesel fuel and put in place. After that try to start the engine with accelerator pedal to the floor. Heed of electric starter motor temperature and battery status! After 40 - 50 sec. of start attempting wait for 1 - 2 minutes for battery and electric starter motor revival. After few starting attemptions the engine must start.
When a diesel runs out of fuel ... my friend ... it takes a lot of effort to get the air out of the lines. Keep doing what you are doing ... keep grinding on the battery ... don't kill it or the starter ... and, as my daddy told me, 'let this be a lesson to you ... don't let your diesel run out of fuel!'
I'm sorry you ran out of fuel ... it will rujn again.
