New electric dryer keeps tripping main circuit breaker- individual breaker does not trip
First off, be sure the pigtail is wired correctly to the back of the unit. Black and red to the outside terminals, white to the middle, green to the frame or cabinet (should be a green screw close-by). If that is ok, you probably have an issue with possibly a bad pigtail, bad outlet, wiring issue, or possibly a bad circuit breaker or breaker box. Probably going to be more of a electrical problem than a appliance problem. Good Luck!!!!
wiring all looks good you think it might be breaker
Very unusual to have a bad main breaker to be honest, unless the wiring was different for the other dryer (happens about twice to three times a week for me). Your saying that it pops the main breaker for the whole house, and not the 240V breaker for the unit itself?

My Maytag dryer keeps tripping the breaker, i opened up the dryer and the wire to the thermal fuse was burnt off. I picked up a peice of 14 gage wire and spliced were it burnt off and it heats up will go threw one full cycle fine but than half way threw the next cycle it trips the breaker
changed power cord after loose ground tripped main breaker, now i have no power
My dryer tripped it's circuit breaker, gave off an electrical burning odor and stopped worked. I reset the breaker and the dryer does not come on. My dad came over and checked the breaker box - nothing blown there. He also says that there is still current getting to the dryer through the power plug. Again, the dryer will not start, even with the breaker reset.
