If you want to repair it yourself there is a guy in South Carolina who has lots of parts for all the Sony Cameras. I bought my LCD from him for $39.00 plus shipping and it works perfect. I put it in myself and saved a ton. If you buy the part from him he sends you pictures of him taking the camera apart so that you can repeat the process when you install it. I think his email is [email protected]

Hi, I have the same problem and I disassemble the optics; I replaced the lens in his slot and it works fine again. It is not so hard to do it but you must have tiny phillips screwdriver and be care of fingerprints on ccd and lens!

Good luck!

SOURCE: sony dsc-w55 fell and the lens is stuck

Use bit more force to push or pull the lens as lens has been damaged. If applying bit more force lens goes to working, u saved $$$ otherwise, new lens option is always available at Sony repair shops.

My Sony cybershot dsc-w55 won't take pictures! I

Your lens is stuck due to either being banged or bumped or there is dirt/grit inside the lens gears. The lens needs to be replaced, but buying a brand new lens is out of the question. Sony will charge $125 just for the lens assembly, it's crazy.

A refurb lens can be installed for about $75 including return shipping. You should check the replacement cost of a used camera and see which is cheaper in the long run.

Hope this helps!

Sony Cyber-shot DSC- W55 takes blurry pictures

Hi!
The focus doesn't move as it should - it was stuck before you tapped it. Could be sand or something in it. I'm afraid you will have to give it away for a repair. You can contact your local Sony service center, but if they ask too much, I can offer you a very good price. My e-mail is [email protected]
