We have a dynna glo zero clearance for Natural Gas

We have a dyna glo zero clearance for Natural Gas that has been run on propane for 3 years and now emits black smoke. Can we convert this to propane and if so what do we need to convert it? If not is there a portable version of a propane type tank for natural gas?

Before you attempt to covert to lp. You need to check the flue. Black smoke is cause by incomplete combustion. So it may be now plug with black soot. Heat-exchanger may be damage Before you invest in a lp kit. Make sure it is worth it. To convert you need the main burner orifices and lp spring for gas value. Once you replace these parts you must adjust gas pressure, nat gas is measured at 3.2 - 3.5wc lp is measured 10.5 - 11.00 wc. In my honest opinion this is to dangerous for customer to attempt. Please a HVAC contractor inspect unit and install lp kit.

I have a dyna glo 30000-50000 btu propane heater, I would like to switch to natural gas .Is this possible?

Hi,
It may be possible, but I have never seen a conversion kit for them.
Also given that the only thing of value in one of those is the gas valve it is probably much more cost effective to just sell the one and buy the other...the difference would be the cost of the conversion kit and you have no labor involved except removal and re-installation...and that takes all of a few minutes...

I had purchased this unit RMO-80LPT heater several years back, I never installed unitl this week. the sales en at the time told me it was gas/propane. Now seeing the -80LPT on the side is it propane...

The orifices for a propane heater are much smaller so you will not be able to get the natural gas to flow properly with the current orifices.

The both the natural gas and propane valve are 1/2 psi so the valve can be used but the regulator for propane is typically 8-11 inches on the wc table and the natural gas is typically 3 lbs on the wc.

You may be able to drill out the orifices in the burner and in the pilot ods and get the unit to work.

Can i convert my dyna glo 75000 btu propane

I'm sure you can, contact the manufacturer and ask if they have a natural gas jet or orfice for your model heater, these are usually very easy to replace.

Dyna-Glo natural gas space heater to propane gas.

Yes it is possible and a good idea. You need to have a regulator installed to reduce the pressure to the heater and this is a simple procedure. Contact your local Propane distributor and they will probably do this free to get your business.

Dyna glo ventless rmc50 ngt

All gas heaters can be converted from one type of gas to another, be it natural or propane. The problem is getting the orifice retrofit parts that fit that particular brand. If the manufacturer doesn't make them, then you are left with no choice.
