Toro leaf blower Model 51591 from 2003 has started

Electric Toro leaf blower Model 51591 from 2003 has started making loud screeching sound when operated, both with or without the impeller. Sound began after vacuuming a wood chip which broke part of a fin off the impeller. Does it sound like a motor problem which would be more economical to remedy by buying a whole new unit rather than repairing?

As I indicated originally, I had also tried the unit without the impeller and it continued to make the same screeching noise.

Sounds like a piece of wood is caught under/between the impellor and the case/housing. When removing the impellor, you may find it has a left hand threaded nut.

Toro model 51575. Was using it as a vacuum and it just shut off. Checked breakers ...all ok. Plugged it in direct to outlet and still nothing. What might be the problem?

Brushes on the motor are bad. where can I buy them

Sounds like the brushes are worn out and in need of replacement, if available.

Plugged it in and it won't run but it was running fine when I put it away two weeks ago.

Check the plug for loose wire or at blower where wire it enters to make sure the wire was not pulled and disconnected inside. If after looking and it is not a wire, check the brushes on the motor. They could be worn out or not making a good contact. Blow out brush housing and re-install brush sometimes this works. That's about all I can think of unless there is a safety switch then check that. Good luck.

After a couple of hours of use last week, the motor started slowing down. Turned it off and it would not restart. tried again after an hour and it started but sounded really rough. stopped it and took it...

sounds like the motor is worn out. Toro does not sell the motor separate. It is considered a throw away unit.
You will have to purchase a new one.
Sorry.
Good Day.
