I think that that is just to show that the battery is charging or it may show that the battery is full. You should only charge batteries when completely flat if it is a nicad battery. This is because the battery thinks that any power left is the new empty power level.
Does it power up if connected with AC Power Adapter? Have you tried extra AC Power Adapter or tested with another Sony Camera? Let me know to guide you further.
Please plug the camera charger in AC Outlet and hook it to camera. Check camera power turn ON, works fine? if OK, switch it to Standby / Off mode. Attach battery and check any charging light lit? If yes, leave the camera on charging position for 4-5 hours until its charge light flashs or turn Off. battery is chaged now. Have fun :)
The batteries are covered under warranty for three years. Sony batteries are know for not keeping a good charge after a few years.
If there not holding a charge, they wouldn't appear on the LCD screen at all. I the AC power is working fine, then that probably isn't the source for not getting a charge.
You could try lightly scraping the contacts on the battery and see if that makes a difference and recharge them.
Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its working again.
if that doesn't work try
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times. good luck
please mark the post with a fixya
If where you put the batteries in are corroded you can use a small file or sand paper to clean them up so you can get better connections hope this helps Merry Christmas
there can be many reasons. rusted contacts, or blown up fuses, or a short circuit in the power board, and may be some thing else. No one can help unless he examines the camera.
