8mm dvd I recorded to camcorder and the images showed on camera screen but the next time I tried to add more footage the screen showed disc error change disc. Does this mean I have lost recordings on this disc or can it be recovered. If I put disc in computer it says there is data on disc but does not show. Any help please the recording is of new born baby's first weeks.

arf99 Thanks for reply but if I finalize disc does this mean I have lost other options if it does not work.

arf99 Have tried to finalize as suggested with no luck so there must be damage somewhere on dvd. Thanks for help. Much appreciated.

Message for ctf1800. Thanks for your advice. CDRoller worked in recovering some of the lost images but not all. Maybe because I had already finalized after it had been suggested previously. Shall keep trying though. Once again many thanks. artybow.

Have you finalized the disk? I would suggest that you put it back in the camera and finalize.

  • Anonymous Jan 05, 2008

Well, finalizing seems your best option.. if the disk is damaged, it won't finalize. If it does it seems likely that you'll be able to recover your footage.

Error code number 0901

IF THAT DISC WAS RECORDED ON AND THEN REMOVED BEFORE FINALIZING IT WILL NOT FINALIZE. THE CAMERA LOOSES THE MAIN INFORMATION TABLE FOR THAT RECORDING. ONLY THING TO DO NOW IS, IF THE DISC CAN STILL PLAYBACK ON THE CAMERA THEN CONNECT IT TO A DVD RECORDER VIA THE AV PORT AND RECORD. SORRY COULD NOT FIND THAT CODE IN THE SERVICE MANUAL.

How to view DVD rewritables

Petra
Had the same problem, You have to press the mode button down which changes it to play and brings up the frames in the viewer. Then select Func, it will then give you a menu screen that shows finalise. What the manual does not say is press down the mode button to get the camera in play mode, when you do the gree light for play comes on.
Hope this helps

Disc will not play... camcorder wants to format the disc and says it is empty.

There is a software program that always saves me when I get careless and fill the disk to full. It''s called CD Roller. It''s called CD Roller.

How can I view the footage recorded on the DVD-Camcorder?

-Press ‘Play’ on the camcorder and review the footage on the 2.5” LCD screen -Connect the DVD-Camcorder to your television using the supplied Audio/Video cables -Download the file to your PC using the supplied USB 2.0 interface cable(not available on DZMV730A) and view it using a Windows MPEG Player application that supports DVD recording format (.vro file extension). -Finalize a DVD-R or DVD-RW disc and play it directly through a home DVD player.

Why should I record my memories on a Hitachi DVD Camcorder?

The picture and sound quality of footage stored on a DVD does not degrade over time. Home movies can be shared with friends and family decades into the future in perfect and pristine condition. Motion video stored on a 8 cm (3 inch) DVD-R disc can be played back on most DVD players and compatible PC DVD drives. After finalizing the DVD-R disc in the camcorder, it can be placed directly into your home DVD player and played back. No additional adapters are necessary and you do not have to connect the camcorder to the television. With DVD, you can instantly access desired scenes without having to endure the time consuming task of fast-forwarding or rewinding. Through Hitachi’s Disc Navigation feature, you simply select the thumbnail image of your favorite scene and it begins to play immediately. 2005 Hitachi DVD Camcorders support four different types of recording media. For motion video you have the option of using a 8 cm (3 inch) DVD-R disc or a 8 cm (3 inch) DVD-RAM disc. Digital still photos can be stored on DVD-RAM discs, Secure Digital cards or MultiMedia Cards. Size Hitachi introduced the world’s first DVD based camcorder three years ago. Since then, Hitachi engineers have been able to perfect the technology and to reduce the physical mass of the camcorder by 45% making it the most portable DVD camcorder in the industry.
