SOURCE: Can you use Maxi-lock cone thread on the baby lock

Choice of thread is entirely up to you.
If it is a fancy dress use once affair, cheap is fine. If you want a robust result that will last, then use quality thread, if you go to all that trouble, why skimp on the one thing holding it all together ?
Maxi Lock sounds like Serger/Overlocker thread on a large cone, it will be thinner than standard thread and you may also have tension issues in bobbin abd top tension,

SOURCE: I have a white quilter's sewing machine, model

Hi, follow the instruction below to troubleshoot the foot pedal

  • Unplug the machine plug and wall plug on the sewing machine.
  • Check the power cord for cracks, burns, or faulty contacts as this could be a possible reason for the foot control not working.
  • Open the foot control by using a knife or flat surface tool, such as a flathead screwdriver, to pry open the corner of the foot control.
  • Check the wires to see if they are disconnected; this can happen if the foot control drops to the ground. To check wires, remove the circuit board using a flat knife. Inspect the wires inside the foot control. You will see some wires that are soldered together. Check to see if there are any broken wires, as this could be the problem. If the wire is broken, clean the area to remove any debris or dirt. Remove a small amount of the insulation before soldering. Solder wires together.
  • When you are done, reassemble the foot control and make sure it's working again.

Speed control

I haven't sewn on this model in about 10 years, so I am rusty. I don't recall a slide or switch to set the range of stitch speeds, so one of the things you need to do is learn to feather the pedal instead of just stomping it. You can often figure out how to block the pedal travel with a couple thicknesses of cardboard cut to shape, or a piece of pencil eraser to mechanically block the highest pedal pressure, but usually it's just better to learn to control the pedal. Finally, the best free motion quilting is often done with high speed stitching but moderately slow fabric movement.
