Hi, the reason why the game keeps freezing at that certain point is most likely due to a bug in the game. I know NHL 12 use to have freezing issues that weren't patched. Since the game is outdated there is no fix for this issue. I would recommend maybe updating to a newer version of the game (NHL 17 etc.) and playing from there.

TRy the game in other consoles if the game keeps playing up its the game, it may have corrupt data, otherwise you r xbox may just not like the game. Good Luck.

It seems like something with EA sports games make them highly vulnerable to freezing. It does that with FIFA, NHL, and Madden as well from what I hear (already froze on me once on FIFA). It could be that these games are too demanding in information processing and too graphic intensive, or whatever, but it's probably not the system. For example, I've played many games for over 40 hours now, sometimes playing hours on at a time, and it hasn't froze or glitched on me even once...

USE A DISC CLEANER DISC AND TRY OPENENING UR PS2 AND BLOWING IT OUT

The game was released with a number of serious glitches. It's the publisher's fault, not yours. You can try to get the retailer to refund your money, but you will probably have to go to the publisher (2K Sports) to get your money back, and it probably won't be easy.
