The more breaker space, the better provided panel mounting space is available.

Main two pole breaker in the panel examples:
40 amperes ( 40 x 240 is 9600W),
35 amperes ( 35 x 240 is 8400W),
30 amperes ( 30 x 240 is 7200W).

You can fit your 8000W power supply preferably into a 30A/120/240V panel, or a 35A/120/240V.

Try to keep the loads balanced. There are two 120volts lines, each, line voltage to neutral, and 240 volts line to line. Example, two 120 volt loads, 1500watts each, connect one of the loads to one lone and the other load to the other line so that each of the 120 volts lines has a load of 1500 watts avoiding both 1500 watts loads (3000W) from being connected to just one 120 volts line while the other 120volt line has no load. This is "balancing the load".

Product of volts and amps is watts. Transposable,
Watts divided by volts is amps.

SOURCE: High voltage low cycles

I worked at a tool rental center while going to college and learned how to service generators. Most appliances/tools require 50 to 60 cycles at 110 to 120 v. Your engine was designed to give maximum horsepower at 3600 rpm. Adjust the engine speed to produce 60 cycles and the engine should be at 3600 rpm and producing around 120v max. (Some special generators were designed to produce 230v 180 cycles, check manual) If your generator incorporates capacitors check them for at least 95% of printed uf value. They should be removed from circuit for testing. If there are two caps and one is weak make sure the new cap reads close to value of remaining cap. Finally there is usually a voltage regulator that varies the power to the armature magnet trying to maintain steady voltage depending on amp draw and engine condition. This regulator has no adjustment and is pass or fail type of item. Good luck, enjoy

SOURCE: no electricity from generator

If you have a voltmeter, you can check the voltage coming out of the outlet. If you have some kind of residual voltage, such as 25 Volts AC or 10 volts ac, then you probably have a voltage regulator problem and your regulator will need to be replaced. If you read 0 volts then you you have an open between the output (outlet) and the windings of the stator.

SOURCE: watt size fuse do i use to connect a 350 watt

You use the same amp fuse as on your amp, nothing larger. The fuse just keeps the wire from overheating/shorting and causing a fire.. IF you amp has a 30 amp fuse then you use a 30amp fuse off the battery

SOURCE: use a 7500 watt transfer switch with a 8000 watt

There is no problem to use it if the load to be transferred is under 7500 W.

Even a load of 8000 W may be handled for a short time, but if the protection of the switch is adjusted at 7500 W (the respective current), it may drop after some time.

What size generator to use for my 8000 series air conditioner on a pop up camper

Hello, There should be a label on the generator that states the wattage rating for the air conditioner. It will read something like: "Wattage: 8000" or similar. You must purchase a generator that is rated for AT LEAST that wattage rating. So in our example, perhaps a 10000 watt generator should be purchased. Whatever the wattage rating of your unit, always purchase a generator with a higher wattage rating than what you need.

Generator will run, wont output electricity

You really didn't provide much info to work with - Knowing the make & model & size (as well as its age) would be helpful. Also is it new or have you had it for a while? What test equipment do you have? In other words, what are you using to determine if it is putting out electricity? Has it ever worked? All generators have individual circuit breakers, so try resetting those. If they trip-out immediately then disconnect the generator from the load. reset the circuit breaker(s) again & recheck the output some other way, such as by connecting a table lamp to it. If that works, then consider the possibility that your generator may be too small for the load that you're trying to connect to it. For example, a 2000 watt generator is good for a working load of 1000 watts but is too small for a 2000 watt load. If this is your first experience with a generator, check out the web site www.electricgenerators.com and refer to their sizing charts. Lots of good info there.

Why is it surging under load?

Yep - the carb needs to be removed and cleaned out thoroughly to remove the clogging responsible for the surging. Motor needs a smooth supply of gas - look at what your car does when you jerk around with the gas pedal. Also check the governor area of generator since that keeps motor running at a certain fixed speed. If there is something wrong with it, that will also cause the problemo.

Why does my Vanguard 8000 generator pop the 40 amp breaker on the generator when I plug in the 30 amp cord into the generator .

There's either a short in the cord somewhere, or the breaker on the generator is faulty and needs replacing.

Why won't my stanley 8000 generator put out power?

You have to be missing a switch to turn on the power outlets once it is running. That or a breaker needs to be turned on.

We have a power back generator 5050 watt we are trying to install the cord to plug into our house, what size cord do we need

If you are wanting to connect using the 120/240 outlet, I would use a #12 gauge 4 wire cable. If over 25 feet, then I would use a #10 gauge. The wire size will make a difference, so that is why I am offering the two sizes. Please make sure that you have a transfer switch if you are connecting to the panel. This will prevent someone from getting seriously hurt or killed.

What size compressor can I run

You would need 10 times the watts it takes to run electric air compressor, the start up takes a lot more amps to get it going ,then it will level off to the amps, what ever they are. That is the problem, getting it to power up,then it is fine,so you are looking at about 8000 watt gen.
