The troubleshooting of any computer involves resetting it back to factory settings. That means all data must be conserved if you want to be able to use the data, pics etc again. After backing it up you can perform a factory reset on it to see if the problem goes away. There are risks involved in this process. You may end up with a brick. The reset procedure is well documented on you tube.

It's seems you got a busted backlight inverter. Need to replaced a new one or repaired it.

If it's only 5 months old, then it's still under warranty. Right now, I'd advise taking it back to have it fixed instead of taking it apart to replace hardware and possibly voiding a warranty.
