Oh, it's there... you just cant see it. It has likely come loose and moved.

Suggest it's time to replace the disposal.

Yes. It is possible. Is the push button in with this switch box? Because the push button could be bad.

SOURCE: reset button leaks every time I use the disposal

The internal seal is leaking and the unit must be replaced or repaired. Call this number 1-800-558-5700 and have the model # and serial # ready for the call. Explain where the leak is happening and see what they say. They may give you a new unit or repair it at no cost depending on how old it is. Unplug & Stop using the unit until you get it repaired as this is a dangerous situation. If you can get no help from InSinkErator then just buy a new one and toss this one out.

SOURCE: my garbage disposal won't run,

If your disposal is just humming then it is jambed. You need to take a Allen wrench under the disposal and un jamb it. Center of the disposal on the bottom is where you will put the wrench and turn it back and forth to un jamb it.

Or on the link below on page 10 will tell you how to unjam.

I pushed the red reset button up in the garbage disposal bottom

If you pushed the red button and it pops back out, the unit is still too hot. Wait ten minutes and try again. Here is a wee bit of additional advice offered in step by step fashion: https://disposalxt.com/how-to-reset-a-garbage-disposal/

Garbage Disposal STOPPED WORKING

there is a tiny reset button on the very bottom of the disposal. get a flashlight and a pencil or something. look under cabinet on the very bottom of the unit will be a small reset button. push to reset. if it keeps tripping the button and shutting off. use a broom handle. not your hand, to stick down the disposal drain and jar the blades loose. after that. run full blast with water. turn on disposal. while its running, flush ice, or orange peels down the disposal to clean... the ice will scrub it all and orange peels will clean and deodorize.

Garbage disposal work and the reset button doesnt reset. There is no jam. Turned off power and checked for electricity--ok. Noticed that plastic was in the disposal when cleaning out. This is a 1/3 hp...

Disposals go bad.
If reset is popped out and won't reset when power switch is turned OFF, then that says reset button is bad.
Reset button cannot be replaced on disposal, so disposal is no good.

Your question said you checked following things, but it doesn't hurt to review.
If reset keeps tripping, then disposal has internal short.
Check for power at switch to see if switch is bad.
Check for power at disposal where wires connect.
Put wood broom handle in disposal and see if cutter disk rotates freely.
Use vacuum cleaner to remove unwanted debris from disposal.

I wrote tips for replacing disposal:

When I worked apartment maintenance, we replaced disposal with same brand disposal.
That way we didn't have to change out sink basket or change pipes.
How to: Disconnect p-trap and tailpiece going into disposal.
Rotate connector disk clockwise that holds disposal to sink basket.
Before installing new disposal.
Attach electric wire to new disposal.
Attach dishwasher tube to new disposal. Knock out plug inside dishwasher opening.
Push new disposal up into place, and attach to old sink basket with new connector disk.
Use new connector washer.
Re-assemble tubular pipe.

If this is your home, you want new sink basket that comes with new disposal because it looks shiny and new.
Buy a tub of plumbers putty also.
Remove old sink basket and clean opening.
Put finger-size roll of plumbers putty around sink opening, and then push new strainer basket into plumbers putty.
Tighten basket from below, wipe away excess putty around sink opening.
Install new disposal as described above.

Tips for tubular pipes:
When taking apart tubular pipes, start at p-trap and take apart as few pieces as needed to do job.
On image above, loosen both upper and lower nuts, trap falls loose, and then work on disposal.
Any tubular drain pipe that gets moved while working under sink needs to be disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled.
Metal pipes have rubber washer >> always use new rubber washers.
Plastic pipes have plastic washers > plastic washers can be cleaned and re-used.
Plastic washers have flat side that goes toward nut, tapered side away from nut.

When reassembling tubular pipe, we use rectorseal on washers and joints.
Apply good amount on washer just before pushing washer in place and attaching nut.
Rectorseal will ensure tubular drain pipes won't leak.

I get power through the reset button. No humming, no nothing. Is it a bad motor?

If i understand correctly, you tested the wires where they connect to the garbage disposal.
Those wires connect before the garbage disposal reset button.
If the reset button is locked in, then the reset is not popped out.
If reset will not reset, then the popped-out reset will push in but not click down.

If the reset is clicked in, and you hve 120V on the line, and the garbage disposal doesn't make any noise, then the motor is bad.
There are no replacement parts for garbage disposal.

The disposal turn on but does not crank. Do I need to somehow restart it? There is no reset button.

There will be a reset button on the bottom of the unit, they all have one, hard to locate, turn power off, push in button, should be good to go
