SOURCE: how to calculate cable size

This site may help. Plug in all the information about your load requirements and it will figure out wire and breaker size and even how big a conduit you'd need for the run.

SOURCE: wiring a 220v single phase motor and capacitor

Black and white are usually power. an ohmmeter will confirm. Brown are for capacitors. There is almost always a diagram on the motor someplace. Eric

SOURCE: wiring diagram for three phase power with two 200 amp service boxes inside building

This work requires a license (or qualified person) everywhere that the National Electrical Code is enforced.

If you're asking how to wire a single phase 200 amp panel from a larger, 3 phase panel of the same voltage - ONE way is to install a 2 pole - 200 amp breaker into the 3 phase panel. Provide 4 correctly sized conductors with the correct insulation in a cable or conduit between the 3 phase panel and the 200 amp single phase panel. Two of these conductors should be black and red (for 120/208 volt system) and connect to the 2 pole - 200 amp circuit breaker terminals, the third should be white and connected to the neutral bus bar. The forth should be green and is connected to the neutral bus bar as well but *only if* it is "service equipment" If it is a "main or sub panel", the green wire should be connected to the ground bus bar. The other end of the conductors should be terminated in a "main lug only" 200 amp panel. The back and red connect to "line 1" and "line 2" bus lugs, the white to the neutral bus bar that is NOT electrically connected to the panel enclosure (do not install the screw or strap between the bar and enclosure). The green must be connected by installing a separate bar that is securely fastened both mechanically and electrically to the enclosure for ground connections.

There is a great deal going on here - and plenty of variables that can change how to do this work, safely and correctly. This is an example of just ONE of many different ways to do the work for a particular installation. There is no one way that works for all situations. If your situation does not support this method - you will have an unsafe installation and subject the building and people in it to a dangerous fire / safety hazard.

Please, consult a licensed electrician before attempting this work.

How do I identify what type of plug is needed for hobart D300T?

This is a great mixer and comes in single phase are well as 3 phase. If you have three wires, it is live, neutral and ground and is single phase. It it has 4 wires, it has a ground, two live and a neutral it is 3 phase 220 volts.

MOTOR: 3 ?4 H.P., Hobart designed, permanently lubricated ball bearings, totally enclosed, internally ventilated. Single-phase is capacitor-start, induction-run type. Three-phase is squirrel cage, induction-run type. Single Phase 115V 11.6 Amps 200V 6.3 Amps 230V 5.8 Amps Three Phase 200V 2.5 Amps 460V 1.0 Amps ELECTRICAL: 115/60/1, 200/60/1, 230/60/1, 200/60/3, and 460/60/3 - U L Listed. Dewalt radial arm saw GW1- Is it single phase or 3 phase

if the plug on the cord fits any other outlet in the house it will be single phase
if the cord is cut , then it will have only 3 wires if it is single phase
( active , neutral and ground )
if it has 4 or more wires it will be 3 phase
most saws running a 200 mm blade or around that size and used for home duty will be single phase
the phase notation will be on the plate attached to the motor of the saw
It will read voltage , amperage, watts or hp, phase and cycles

I have a 440v 50 amp and a 220v 30amp main breaker box outside my house. the 440 goez to the inside of the house and i have to unplug the 440 and plug in myown 440 plug i connected to another breaker box...

Some of these numbers don't make sense?
I have Never heard of 440v and 220v in a residential application, they are two different systems, 480 volt is typically 3 phase power, and 240v is typically single phase, more in likely you have a 200- 400 amp main service, and a 100- 200 amp secondary service for the welder, that can't be 110 @ 200 amps?
I would need more info, and pictures of actual nameplates of the equipment,
and then I could advise a safe NEC electrical code answer...

I Am installing a Generac 20Kw air cooled unit with a 200 amp service disconect ATS What size conductors do i use from the generators 100 amp breaker to the transfer switch

It is always good to install a large enough wire where the maximum load can be drawn plus a little extra for safety. 7 gauge wire will do, if it was mine I would use 6 gauge wire. If the length is over 20 feet but not longer than 80 feet go to the next larger size wire.

For an 3 Tn unit- single phase- 220 V a.c and gfor

There should be a full load amps or rated load amps on each of these units on the rating or nameplate. The ampacity or fuse size and wire size, which I think that's what you are wanting to know . The fuse size would be full or rated load amps times 125% and the wire size depending on the length of the run, 50 feet or less, (15 amps 14 gauge wire), (20 amps 12 gauge), (30 amps 10 gauge), and (40 amps 8 gauge).
