SOURCE: lumix DMC- FZ30 - screen is black when camera is turned on

Hello,
I understand that you've tried all the obvious tricks like resetting to factory settings etc.
Sounds like a CCD/shutter failure I'm afraid. FZ30 are not known for failing CCDs, but I've seen shutters fail on various lumix-es, so in this case I would suggest replacing the shutter. To be precise, replacing the shutter itself is a massive pain in the **** on this camera. It's much easier to replace the whole lens-it contains the shutter. You'll need to get a donor camera (ebay ;) and do the transplant. Swapping the lens is relatively easy if you're ok with midly fiddly things. Oh, and make sure you take notes which screws go where when dismantling the camera - and be careful with ribbon cables for the LCD.
Good luck,
Raf

SOURCE: My panasonic dmc-fz30 has dust inside the lens

How can you tell it's dust inside the lens? Does it show up in the pictures? And no, you can't take the lens apart to clean it because you don't have the precision equipment necessary to remount the lens elements within the close tolerances necessary.

I have a Panasonic Lumix FZ 30. The power light does not go off even 1-2 minutes after switching the camera off. This drains the battery very fast. Is this just a setting problem?

I could give some simple and possible answer. Your camera Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 is quite simple but good camera. Unfortunately it could be the lens unit doesn't work properly or the main PCB(printed circuit board). First the lens unit problem is right then you can bring it to any skillful local camera repair shop. But second problem you just have to use as a paper weight because most of panasonic part are very expensive. Most of case it exceed camera value. Now you camera is about 5 or 6 years old. The decision is yours. Oh! maybe the last possible chance is internal of camera circuitry connector( FPC--flexible printed circuitry) off position. I do once in a while see them. Thanks and good luck with you..
