Forget the phone lock code

I forgotten the code for my N73 cell phone,when i switch on the phone,i have to enter the code to activate my phone,now i have forgotten the code and how do i unlock my phone? the handphone shop is asking for $70 to refresh the phone and unlock it and it takes 3days. is there any other way that i can get to unlock the phone?

    hello i have the same problem with my nokia n73 forgot code each time i enter incorrect code says will you have had 5 incorrect attempts will unblock in 5mins nokia says i have to contact dealer who is going to charge a fortune. I wouldn,t mind but when i asked if needed to take id with me he said no . sounds like a money making racket to me . can you help?

    I dont know what might be the problem..i am not sure if i did change the lock code..as long as i can remember, the day i bought it until today i did not use any security lock code etc on my new phone..i dont have any problem like this before with my n70 (i did use any security code on my n70 "autolock" and it works!!!!).. seems like i cant change the lock code..i tried reformat my phone..using turning off my phone, press "green, "*", "3" then on. but with no effect still code error even if i use the default 123456..any help????? i want to use security code for my celphone...but how...i cant even use the default number!!!



    HELP ME FIX THIS PROBLEM PLS....



    question: what's the problem with my phone? (professional opinion or own opinion)



    by the way... i've tried the default number more than five times now i got " LOCK CODE ENTERED INCORRECTLY 5 TIMES. CODES WILL UNBLOCK IN 5 MINUTES" what does this means?????........neway i can still use my phone but still want to fix this problem...i still want my phone be more secure!!!

N73 has this issue that many face. If you have set a lock code (5 digit numeric code) and you have entered the code incorrectly 5 times, then it will lock up the phone and issue a warning saying that the phone has been locked and it will unlock in 5 minutes.
The solution to unlock is as follows:
1. Switch off the phone.
2. Restart the phone. (Enter the pin if you have set one)
3. The phone will issue the same warning again about lock code being blocked
4. Let someone call you right now.
5. You will receive the call. You may wish to answer it.
6. Once the call has been completed, the phone will unlock itself.
7. Make sure you change the lock code after this.

Hope this solves.

PS: I cant help if you forgot the code. This will help only if your phone is locked because someone (or maybe yourself) has entered the code incorrectly

I had an N85. I changed my phone lock code which was 65456 to 080507. Or at least I thought I did. When my phone's battery died, and I tried to restart it, I was asked for the phone lock code. I entered 080507 but it just said "Code Error." I tried LOTS of other codes that I think I might have entered instead and the default factory security code 12345. None of them worked. Of course. I "accidentall" typed 08050* and it was "Code Accepted." Yay. I realized they just accept numbers, not * or #, and that it has to be 5 digits. I didn't realize that it was only the first 5 numbers that I entered, and verified, that became my new security code. Before I cracked the code, I have been searching for solutions to this all over the Internet . I even called a Nokia Care Centre representative and considered sending the phone to them. But, problem solved, and I hope your problem could have a simple solution as mine.

(The solutions offered in many sites I found uncomfortable with, like sending your IMEI numbers and other serial numbers or personal details, so I checked with the official Nokia people even if I expected they will just tell me things I already know and tried. The other solutions were too complicated for me, the ones where you need to download certain applications. They may have worked for some people but I would recommend paying for trusted repairs rather than do it myself, or have some random person do it. The risk isn't always worth it.)

This is simple.... if you have the phone lock (not network lock) code turned on and you have forgot that code just take it your local unlocking shop and get them to reset factory settings, i charge £10 in my shop and it takes under 5 minutes

Hello there....well its quite simple...
1)......there is nothing wrong with your phone ...its your SIM... if it is asking for a PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) code...call your subscriber and ask them for PUK code,entering this code will reset your sim

if u keep entering wrong your sim will be damaged so call them

If the error message is saying sim damaged call them and ask for a "sim replacement" you will get a new sim while you will retain the same number ,however you will lose the phone numbers and other data stored in sim,this can be free but it depends on the company and how 'customer friendly they are

2).......to unlock the phone to any network you need to call the customer care of your original network provider..just keep the model number of your phone number handy (you will find that on the box in which you got the phone)...or the IMEI number (15 digits mostly) by dialing *#06# on your phone or beneath the battery or on the box near bar code....this is a paid service and charges differ from network to network

that should solve the problem.....you will be able to use any sim in your phone of any service around the world

Just remove sim card and mmc. Press *,3 and send key(green calling key) simonteniously and at that time press power on switch and hold that 4 keys till your phone get booted. It will ask u initial setup and your code will be change to default i.e. 1234.

The method of performing a hard-format, i.e resetting it completely to factory defaults and removing all data, is as follows:

  1. Switch off the phone.
  2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (call answer) button, * button, and '3' button
  3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone
  4. When the message 'Formatting' appears on the screen, release all of the buttons
Note that you shouldn't switch the phone off or remove the battery when performing either of these operations, and it's advised that the handset has a reasonable amount of battery charge before performing a format/reset. As data will be lost, you are advised to perform a backup first.

If this method doesn't work you probably will need to go to a Nokia Service Centre and have your phone flashed!
