Hello

Coffee makers have a heating unit in them which draw a lot of current. If it is on the same circuit as refrigerator, toaster and other it will trip the breaker. Also, some breakers are more sensitive than others. Have an electrician run a separate circuit for the coffee maker outlet. Try running it in the dining room outlet, which I hope is separate from the kitchen outlets. Is the house old? Older homes have a lot of mixed up wiring.

My coffee maker is a Bunn, which keeps a tank of water hot all the time, plus has the built-in warmer plate that you switch on when needed. It, as well as a couple of its nearly identical predecessors, have worked on the circuit with the GFCI for at least a decade and never had a problem. But this morning I see an unfamiliar light shining at me and figure out that it is the GFCI trip indicator. I tried re-setting several times to no avail. So I unplugged the Bunn, which uses the next outlet down the counter on the other side of the sink, and bingo, the GFCI reset. Plugged the Bunn back in and the GFCI tripped again. Plugged the Bunn back in with the switch to its heater element turned off, no trip, but GFCI tripped when I then turned the heater element switch back on. Moved the Bunn to another outlet on another wall, not GFCI wired, and it operates as normal. Brought in a vacuum cleaner and plugged it in where the Bunn had previously been and it operates as normal, no GFCI trip.

All that makes compelling evidence that something in the Bunn is suddenly causing the GFCI to trip. BUT WAIT! Last thing I did last night was pour a canister of vinegar into the Bunn, then cycle the output through about six times, then flush it all about eight times with fresh clean water--this to dissolve and flush out built-up calcium deposits, as is required from time to time. So ample water had been splashed around and through the Bunn about six hours prior, with the possibility of some unusual spillover leaving moisture inside the unit. Running the Bunn on the other circuit for a day or so ought to dry it out to its normal "in-use" condition. Then I'll move it back to the GFCI circuit and try it again. If it still trips, out it goes and I go buy a new coffee maker. If no trip, we are back to normal.

My bunn nhb makes a continuous "boiling" sound even after coffee has brewed.

Check with Bunn and see if there has been a recall. I did in Canada and they sent me a new machine complete with some Tim Horton's coffee! http://www.bunn.com/
Good Luck!

When i plug the unit in, the reset switch on the outlet immediately shuts off

Assuming that by "switch" you mean circuit breaker, this is indicative of an electrical short. The circuit breaker is tripping to protect from an overload hazard.
You need to rule out if the outlet itself is bad vs. faulty electronics in the BUNN itself. Here's how you can do that:
1. You may have too many appliances drawing power simultaneously from the same outlet or from other outlets sharing the same circuit. If there are other appliances connected, try removing them temporarily to see if the BUNN still trips the breaker. NOTE: If you are using an extension cord, timer or a surge protector, remove it and connect the BUNN directly to the wall socket. Moreover, do not operate appliances on outlets controlled by a dimmer or a switch.
2. If you are uncertain as to what the cause of the problem is, one option is to relocate the BUNN to another outlet on another circuit in your residence to see if it trips that too. If so, the electrical components in the coffeemaker itself are to blame and you should contact the manufacturer and/or an authorized service center ASAP.
3. If the BUNN was the only thing plugged into the outlet when it tripped, try plugging in something else that draws a similar amount of power/wattage to see if it also trips the circuit while running. If so, your outlet is the culprit and/or the circuit is being shared by too many other outlets in your home (particularly true of old buildings). Call an electrician and/or your property manager to inquire about a solution.
4. Type your BUNN model number and the word "recall" into a search engine. If there is a recall in effect that seems to involve the problem you have encountered, contact BUNN for your service and replacement options. If you determine that the outlet is working correctly and the circuit is not overloaded and you suspect the brewer is at fault but there is no recall notice, consider filing a report with BUNN and/or the Consumer Product Safety Commission. This is a serious safety hazard and needs to be reported to the appropriate parties.
