I have Sony PMW-EX1R Camcorder and it won't turn on. Power is going into camcorder as the lights for memory card slots are lit and red dot flashing on back of camera.

Nothing comes up on display. I used the DC out plugged into camera I removed battery and memory cards and it still will not boot up.

SOURCE: WHY IS MY CAMERA NOT STAYING ON ?

It sounds like the memory card slot has been damaged in some way. This probably means a new circuit. I would suggest you find a Kodak service centre in your area. Hopefully the camera is still under warranty.

How to transfer sony dcr-hc26 videos to pc using usb cable thanks

The Sony HDR-HC26 is a miniDV tape based camcorder. No surprises if you can't get USB streaming working.

ALL miniDV tape based camcorders transfer DV-format video by conneting the DV port of the HD camcorder to the Firewire port of your computer. USB won't work. The "DV" in miniDV = Digital Video. It is as digital as the digital video from flash memory or hard disc drive or DVD based camcorders - only better because it is not compressed as much as the others.

Memory cards are not the only way to store digital video - and while not as good as miniDV tape, memory cards are not as bad as DVD based consumer camcorders...

Firewire IEEE1394, DV and i.LINK are all the same thing.

If your computer does not have a firewire port, hopefully it has an available expansion slot (PCI for desktops; PCMCIA or ExpressCard for laptops), so you can add one.

When trying to import XDCAM (SD) clips into Final Cut Pro, the xdcam transfer software is first coming up with the error - ERROR SCANNING DEVICE - The mediapro.xml file cannot be found. This is most likely...

The Sony XDCAM EX series camcorder including Sony PMW-EX1, Sony PMW-EX1R, Sony PMW-EX3 and Sony PMW-350. For FCP users who are facing the same issue to import Sony XDCAM EX MP4 to FCP X, there are 2 solutions for you to fix the problems.
The first solution is using third-party Sony XDCAM Transfer software. Prior to importing Sony XDCAM EX MP4 with with XDCAM Transfer, you may use the Sony XDCAM EX Clip Browse to first copy the SxS-based media to local storage. Then you can ingest MPEG-4 wrapped XDCAM-EX media to QuickTime-wrapped media with XDCAM Transfer application on your scratch disk. Then you can simply choose the XDCAM EX Easy Setup that corresponds to your footage and edit as you would with any other native format in Final Cut Pro.

If the first solution is too complicated for you or you encounter some unsolvable problem when adopting the first method. A much simple but reliable alternative solution is recommended to you. You can use a third-party application to transcode Sony XDCAM EX MP4 to FCP X best native compatible editing codec -Apple Prores, which is specially developed by Apple for fast and fluid post-production editing workflow in Final Cut Pro X.
