Tip & How-To about Sport & Outdoor - Others
My outboard was running fine till it sputtered and finally quit while trying to get back to shore. After inspecting I found water was the problem. I was in open water couldn't take the Carberator apart to drain the bowl (drain clogged). Another boater had come by and had Carb-cleaner with him. The trick was how to get it in the bowl to displace the water (spraying in the carb will not work). I thought thru the fuel line and took the gas line that feeds the Carb off on the outflow side from the fuel pump, sprayed carb-cleaner into the line and turned over the motor. After 2 times it fired right up. I had tipped up the fuel tank so the water settled to the bottom and made it to the dock about a half an hour away. Wanted to pass this on, I had just a little water in the gas and it was my fault for not adding sea-foam after I filled the tank with my fuel can that was in the back of my truck... Lesson Learned. Hope this helps. Mike Home
