Wtw7040dw whirlpool cabrio only just over a year old. Error code e3 f6. Also sparks when plugged in. We tested outlet outlet is fine. Is this an expensive fix?

Did you ever figure out what the issue was? I'm having the same problem.

  • Samantha Smith Nov 10, 2019

Needed a new control panel which whirlpool paid for only to break again 3 months later which whirlpool wanted 400 for. Just trashed it and got a 500 dollar ge washer. Works a million times better. Do yourself a favor, trash the washer.

Check to make sure the front controls are plugged in to the control board. Otherwise, replace top control interface. Not cheap.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Cabrio HE washing machine

I work for an appliance repair company and I had a recent service call for the same exact situation on this washer. I also know that Rotary Position Sensor is linked to the F-51 error code. I have found that this is not always the case. On this paticular call the F-51 error code was caused by a piece of clothing (sock, wash cloth, etc.) being stuck or jammed between the internal basket and the outer tub. I removed the cloth and the washer ran fine, so give that a check first before you spend the money.

SOURCE: fixing error code po350 (ignition coil malfuntion)

yes this code is a coil issue and without getting very deep it can be triggered by a defective spark plug, the knock sounds like maybe a carbon knock, run a coup[le of cans of upper cylinder cleaner in the gas tank when u fill, STP gas treatment is one of these products, if the knock persists then have the dealer check for a hard carbon problem in cylinder's or a possible piston or engine rod bearing noise.

SOURCE: Cabrio washer is giving an F 51 Code

The "F51" error code is common problem with the Cabrio. This is an RPS sensor error. The sensor is mounted along the motor windings under the washer and detects the rotation spin speed. The sensors on these units can go bad, causing the error code, and it has been a frequent problem. I would recommend you contact Whirlpool first (due to the unit only being a year old) and see if there is a recall or upgrade on this part. I believe there is. The repair would then be covered by the manufacturer. If I give you the steps to access and/or replace the sensor at this point, you may be voiding any existing warranty you may still have. Some components carry a longer warranty than your normal one year limited warranty from the manufacturer. Something you may consider.

If you have further questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you in some way.

SOURCE: I have a whirlpool Cabrio, what does LF error code

The LF error is a water supply fault. Both water supplies must be connected and fully opened. The inlet hoses and valves both have strainers that may need cleaning as this could obstruct the water flow and also check that you don't have any water leaks. The unit requires a minimum water pressure to operate so anything that could prevent the unit getting this pressure will cause this fault. Hope this helps you out!

SOURCE: I have a whirlpool- cabrio

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

Error code 5d/Sd means suds have been detected. To solve this problem you have to take the bottom front panel apart and then clean the drain filter pump assembly completely, make sure the washer is unplugged before working on it. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

I have a whirlpool cabrio washer for a while now here and there i was pulling out soaking wet clothes.and ofcourse my warranty ran out yesterday and now it will not start any cycle all its does is sense...

This particular washer has a test that we can run to see any errors. This can be confusing on this model.
I am including a document below that will describe how to view the old error codes. Use the section that starts with Activating the service diagnostic modes. You can start with the cycle selector knob at any position.
  1. Be sure the washer is in standby mode (plugged in with all indicators off).
  2. Perform the following sequence of movement using the cycle selector knob. NOTE: After reset, sequence "a" through "e" must be completed within 6 seconds. When it tells you to rotate the cycle selector knob, it means 1 click, not a full turn. Once you have completed the cycle knob turns reset and "a" through "e", turn the cycle selector 1 click clockwise from the position it is already in. This is the fault code display mode. Then press the start button. Each time you turn the cycle selector knob 1 click clockwise after pressing start will show you an error code. Note: this washer stores 4 codes if any. The error codes on this washer are displayed in this format: F5 E3, F7 E1, etc. There is an error code chart in the image below.
If there are no error codes stored, I recommend that you start from the beginning (step 1 above) and then run the Automatic test mode. If this unit detects a problem, it will display the error at the end of this test.
Here is a list for the errors.
Post back your results.

I have a wtw6400sw and i'm getting the same f1 error code that alot of people are getting. even though its over 4 years old since it's a recall will whirlpool still fix it?

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

F1 error in your whirlpool cabrio indicates bad control and should be replaced to resolve the error code. However, you can contact Whirlpool as well prior to replacing the control yourself as I have seen whirlpool paying for the parts themselves just because this is known to be a common issue and yes even if its a 4 yrs old they have to fix it. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Error code help

I assume this is the cabrio version not a calypso, (kenmore washers are whirlpools) C-9 is the last step of the diagnostic test. fault codes start with F or are a two letter code like Sd for over suds, dL Door Lock etc. I have noticed a spark also when plugging in some of these machines, but still worked fine. to see if there is a real code stored - use any one key other than power start and cancel while machine is off and press and hold for 4 secs release for 4 press for 4, release for 4, press for 4, release, you should see all lights come on. then after a few seconds if it has a code you should see it. press same key again and it should start diagnostic test- where it uses the C codes for steps. power and cancel should get you out this. for your code list there is a service book inside the machine on the front panel upper left side. (pop top lid up with putty knife). OR for all your whirlpool made products go to www.servicematters.com click technical reference, technical library, tech sheets/wiring diagrams enter model number (kenmore number after the "110.")
hope this helps
