Your camera manual will tell if transfer from internal memory to card is possible. Some do some do not. Another USB cord should not be very expensive

Hi.. I think you have solved the problem yourself... replace the adapter with a memory stick... You have eliminated the micro sd card as bad... now try a new known good memory stick..
Thanks

More than likely this is not a memory stick problem, but a computer problem. Have you used this port before for other uses? sometime a port will get sloppy( for lack of a better word) and you may have to tilt or hold the card with your hand, so that the computer will pick it up. Try that.
Hooe it helps.

Put your card in and scroll down. Even when it looks like you're at the bottom scroll more. You'll see copy. Go to the pic that says in with an arrow to an sdcard. select and there you go. It took me ages to find it but it's there.

Once it was happened to me, I went in folder options, enabled 'show hidden folder and files' option and got all pictures in memory stick that were hidden in picture folder for some reason. Selected all with CTRL+A, right clicked, clicked propertise and uncheck hidden mark
Try that, might help you.
