i don't know. see if there is a stop switch that is still in the 'off' position. using a small electric meter, test to see if there is power coming to the generator's starter. if all is well, you may need to have the starter repaired or replaced. on some
motors, a gentle tap on the starter sometimes allows motors to run again. be gentle.

no circuit on the run side of the button to the ignition

have a gas shop inspect the gas converter / regulator
next check the ignition circuit for shorting / loose connections causing a spark at the wrong time
check the low oil sensor unit as it is known that they fail and cause indications of your problem
check oil level in the sump as it may be making/ breaking the circuit if too low

Is this gasoline or propane fueled?

Does it bog down? if so have engine checked for ability to deliver HP. Cylinder compression, leakdown test. When was it tuned?

Check fuel pump pressure, how long has it sat. What load is on after it stops?

Sound like a dead battery, or poor battery volatge getting to the unit. The clicking is fuel pump and or solenoid trying to pull in.
