If your Babylock EMP6 embroidery machine starts stitching a design and then stops, displaying a message to check the upper or bobbin thread, there are a few potential causes for this issue:
Thread tension: Improper thread tension can cause stitching issues. Ensure that both the upper and bobbin threads are properly threaded and the tension settings are adjusted correctly. Check the machine's manual for specific instructions on setting the thread tension.
Thread breakage: Check both the upper and bobbin threads for any signs of breakage or tangles. A broken or tangled thread can cause the machine to stop and display the error message. If you find any issues, rethread the machine and ensure the threads are properly seated in the tension discs and bobbin case.
Bobbin issues: Check the bobbin area for any obstructions, such as lint or tangled thread. Clean the bobbin case and ensure the bobbin is correctly inserted and spinning freely. If the bobbin is wound unevenly or has any defects, replace it with a new one.
Needle issues: A bent or dull needle can cause stitching problems. Check the needle for any damage and replace it if necessary. Make sure you are using the correct needle size and type for the fabric and design you are stitching.
Machine maintenance: Regular cleaning and maintenance are important for the smooth operation of the machine. Clean out any lint or debris from the bobbin area, needle plate, and thread path. Lubricate the machine as recommended in the manual.
Probably best to have the machine serviced. Sometimes a bent needle will make a racket if it is hitting under the needleplate. At any rate, it is probably better to get it fixed than injuring yourself or breaking the machine.
First, remove the bobbin and clean the entire area; if your machine model has a bobbin case, be sure to remove any lint from between the overlap. Change to a new bobbin in case the bobbin is wound poorly (happens even to pre-wounds).
Check thread paths of bobbin and top threads and be sure tension isn't too loose in bobbin or top; sometimes the auto tension changes erratically when stitching on thick fabrics, check your manual for resetting it to default or for making adjustments.
Be sure the needle is one that is the right size and type for the fabric you're stitching on and use a new one; bent needles happen easy, and a slight, almost undetectable bend will cause this type of issue.
1. Change the needle--use a needle that's for the fabric being sewed
2. Rethread the machine--top --make sure to use every thread guide
3. try a different bobbin--make sure bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case, & make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way in the bobbin case
4. make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever
5. Clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or threads
6. Check to make sure the bobbin is not warped or damaged
7. Make sure the bobbin case is correctly in the machine,, if it's a top loading bobbin you may need to have the bobbin case checked to see if it's damaged or see if the hook and hook race has a problem
8. Also could be a timing problem, and the machine would need to be checked.
Depends what was causing the noise. It could merely have been the build-up of lint and thread. However, something else could be the cause.
First: Install a brand new needle. A bent, damaged, old needle will frequently cause noise because it is striking something it should not. A dull needle will also make a thunking sound as it tries to penetrate the fabric. The needle should be changed about every 8 hours of sewing...a very inexpensive fix!
Also, be sure to following the oiling instructions (if any) in your manual. Use only fresh good quality sewing machine oil and apply only 1-2 drops in each spot as instructed.
If the top thread still fails to pick up the bobbin thread, it is likely the machine has been knocked out of time. Take it for service.
First I would replace the needle. Next, completely rethread the machine, making sure the thread is passing through the take-up lever. Next, remove the bobbin and reinsert it. This is a good time to also give the machine a quick cleaning, in case lint or thread is building up anywhere. Then try sewing again on scrap fabric and adjust your tension.
I hope this helps!
Sounds like you need to adjust the tension. Probably a good idea to oil this older machine before you adjust. Also look for and clean out any lint or debris in bobbin case and around foot area.
hi! there,
open needle plate if the shuttle race and the bobbins has been pull out that making noise,or accumulation of thread under bobbins, if nothing there, run machine and check if shuttle race and bobbins are moving, also with the needle if not, there are opening at the bottom of machine try to open if some gears are broken,or belt is slip.
if broken gears there a lot of parts before you can pull out gear, beside the timing order you cannot put back.this should be done by technician expert
