Could be that the 'spider' mount for the drum is broken and the drum is catching on the surrounding plastic outer drum.

Washing machine constantly goes out of balance

ok, this is a tricky one so here are a few things to check, first open door and spin drum any direction. watch drum and also listen while it spins. do this a few times to ensure you have listened or see any possible issues like: unusual grinding noise, tub out of round," wobbling", rubbing anywhere on front rubber door boot or plastic slivering around area of plastic pieces. if that is ok then with two fingers and gentle lift upper part of basket slightly to check for ant slop or slack in rear bearing. if thats ok then next check to make sure that all four feet are firm not to allow washer to, "teeter totter" form two feet to other two feet. lean on top from side to side and make sure unit is stout or firm footed on ground. last is to make sure your floor is not weak. dose your dryer shake bad when washer goes into spin. this is a cause of out of balance. make sure your loads are same materials. imagen when there wet if they would weigh the same or balance out when there around inside basket spinig. thank you for reading this and hope it helps.

My 2000 buick regal spits and sputters and eventually stops doing it at about 55 mph whats wrong

Sound like a vacuum leak. Under the plastic cover marked 3800 series 2 there are a few thin plastic tubes going into rubber boots that have been known to slit or crack allowing too much air into the system.
Start with the ones in front of the fuel intake manifold. Loks like a valve cover on the top of the engine. . Notice on the right. Two plastic tubes going into on rubber boot. Carefully pull it off and check the rubber for splits. Dead center on the back of the fuel l manifold are two more small tubes (2 into 1)
same as in the front. Check this also. This Y shaped tube split on mine. When I tried to remove it. It fell apart. So I walked into pepboys auto center and purchased a box of vacuum T's. Assorted and a assorted package of 4 2 inch vacuum tube and made my own.

Hope this helps

Why is my clothes washer constantly unbalanced?

loose or broken drum support wheel. under the drum that turns is plastic or metal wheels the drum sits on. when the wheel breaks or the metal bar that goes threw the wheel may loosen and work its way out the the drum won`t balance.

After wash yesterday i opened door and smoke and smell of rubber burning and small amounts of grey rubber in washer

check the inside stainless steel drum isnt moving up and down. use the plastic outer drum as a reference. If its wobbling up and down, then your drum is bad. If it isnt then for some reason, the boot is making contact the drum. I would actually get a tech out to confirm this.

We have a kenmore washer HE11045862400 . It is 7 years old. Excellent condition on the out side. We have notice it making a loud noise when it is in the spin cycle . Machine at times moves . It cost us...

Hi

Your drum is going unbalanced with the load.

Either you do have an unbalanced load but more likely is that the dampers on the underside of the drum have failed. (they are like shock absorbers).

Normally there are springs at the top the suspend the drum and on the underside there are dampers.

There normally are 2 dampers attached to the drum and the frame.

They are accessed by tipping the machine onto its side.

However the machine is heavy and make sure you disconnect power and water if you want to investigate.

Cost of new dampers are around 50 each.

I took my basket out because of an unbalancing problem and water is trapped inside of the basket. The water will not come out. Will this cause my unbalancing problem?

Normally excessive shaking etc is caused by 3 things.
1) Unbalanced load. 2) Brocken spring that suspend drum. 3) Dampers under drum lost damping.
I would expect 3 as likely cause if machine works ok except for when spinning.

Drum will not drain

There is a rubber boot from the wash tub to the pump. At the tub end of the rubber boot is a plastic ball slightly larger then a ping pong ball. The space around the ball was plugged with paper towel. The paper towel pieces were removed and the unit reassembled. Access to the rubber boot required removing both the front and back panels.

The ring that goes aroung to drum (i think it is plastic) is all chewed up and decaying is it a easy fix for homeowners or should we get someone to fix it

theres arubber "boot" connecting the tub to the outer wall of the unit. if your seeing "bone colored" plastic rubbing off and onto the soft rubber boot assy, that sounds like the outer tub itself somehow wearing down, , that snot an easy repace ment at all, you would need to replace the entire outer fornt tub.
