Water inlet temperamental, sometime works, sometime not.

SOUNDS LIKE U MAY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH EITHER UR WATER PRESSURE SWITCH OR UR WATER INLET VALVE/

U FAILED TO MENTION IF IT WORKS OK IN HOT WATER? IF SO THEN CHECK UR INLET VALVE OUT THE COILS MAY HAVE GONE BAD ON THE COLD WATER

Each water inlet has its own filter where the hoses connect to the washing machine. Make sure that the filters are cleaned properly sometimes, these filters gets blocked if dirt or debris like rust came through the water system.

Verify water flow to BOTH hot and cold inlet valves. Dirt can plug screens and Dad sometimes turns off water, trying to save $$. BOTH inlet valves need water flow.

Is your machine a FAV6800A or FAV9800A? If it's one of those I Have specific info to troubleshoot in Service Mode.

We will go into Service mode and turn on the Hot and Cold water inlet valves from the console and make sure the correct water inlet valve opens and fills the machine...........Rich

the quection is not complete, when the cold water inlet and hot water inlet both work then what is the problem....

Most of the front loading washers and combos have two inlets for hot and cold water which are automatically controlled according to the setting used and hence both the water inlets needs to be connected for the machine to work properly or else the machine may take more time to fill water and there is also a possibility of the machine malfunctioning. However if you don't want to use hot water you may supply cold water to the hot water inlet which will at least make sure that the machine works fine.
In case you have only one faucet for supplying water to the machine you may use a Y-connector which will allow you to connect one hose to one side of the connector and two hoses to the other side of the connector which can then be connected to the two inlets to the machine.

The fill valve--which is about the size of a coffee cup--is sometimes also called a "water inlet valve." It controls the entry of hot and cold water into the machine. The valve has three major components:

• A hot-water solenoid
  
  
• A cold-water solenoid
  
  
• A mixing valve body
  
  

The inlet valve has three hoses connected to it, for :

• The hot water from the house
  
  
• The cold water from the house
  
  
• The water directed into the washing machine's inner tub (either hot or cold, or both) to fill it with water
  
  

When electricity flows to one or both solenoids, water flows through the valve into the washing machine's inner tub. When the electricity stops, the water also stops.

HI, this is a faulty inlet valve assembly. you should replace this failing component asap if possible.This will fix the issue.

Is there a faint buzzing or humming noise coming from the water-inlet valve? (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If you can't hear anything, the water-inlet valve may not be getting any power. If you can hear some noise and there's water present, you may need to completely replace the water-inlet valve.
