SOURCE: Kenmore Waher spin cycle out of balance
Sounds like your front to back spring is pulling to tight, sometimes you need to replace it and sometimes you can take it off and stretch it. hope this helps
SOURCE: Very loud spin cycle
your bearings i the tub have gone bad. It happens usually if you use powder soap. It doesnt dissolve all the way and gets into the bearings and ruins them. Sorry but this is a pretty expensive fix. When you get it fixed used liquid soap and it shouldnt happen again.

to cause unit to go off balance taking in fact that you put clothes in washer even...check your counter balance spring it hold the tub to base at rear of unit,,,and check your balance ring at the top of your wash basket its fill with water if cracked will cause this problem,,

have you tried lower spin speeds? I found with heavy items such as towels and jeans it is best to lower the spin speed. also washing like heavy items on a certain wash cycle is best - i.e. towels on bluky/bedding.
hope that helps.

If this is occurring mostly on heavier loads your clutch may be slipping. If you take a flathead screwdriver and push down the lid switch so the washer will spin with the lid up, grab the inside of the drum. If you can easily stop the drum its most likely a bad clutch. If you tip the washer back and see oil underneath then its probably your transmission leaking oil onto the the clutch causing it to slip (in which case you need transmission and clutch assy). If you see oil I would probably not bother calling a tech it would be a pretty expensive repair.
IF the problem is with the clutch only it may be worth repairing but to replace the clutch you will have to remove the pump, motor, transmission, and the clutch mounts on top. The other less common possibility could be a bad drive block under the inner tub. hope this helps. _MJ_
