Output voltage adjustment

Output voltage is higher than rating. 120V receptacles are 127V and 240V receptacles are 249V... measured at the connection between the tool and a 250' 12/3 rated extension cord. Is it possible to adjust the output voltage? If it is possible, please provide a detailed description of the location of components to be adjusted and process steps. These generators are burning components out of my tools.

AVR (Automatic voltage regulator) is an instrument that adjusts voltage by means of automatic control device.

Voltage regulator (referred to as AVR) is designed for AC brushless generators with fundamental wave, harmonic compound excitation or permanent magnet generator excitation (PMG system).

Voltage regulator realizes the automatic regulation of generator output voltage by controlling the excitation current of generator AC exciter. Generator voltage regulator can be used for ordinary 60/50Hz as well as medium frequency 400Hz single or parallel generators.

Output voltage is based on 3600 rpm @ 60Hz. Sounds like your generator is over speeding slightly. Put a Frequency meter on the output of the generator and tune it to 61.5 Hz, that will get your generator in the 3600 RPM range.

Okay, I assume that you are referring the economy mode / idle control feature of the generator.

When this is turned on, the engine should run at a slower speed, until a load is detected, then the engine should speed up very quickly. Turning this feature off should result in the engine speeding up quickly as well.

Normally, this is done using a solenoid that is connected to the governor arm. When idle control is requested (run slower), the solenoid engages, and pulls the governor arm in a way so that the throttle is closed. When idle control is disabled (or load detected), then the solenoid sits unpowered, and governor arm is allowed to react normally with its spring tension, and increase engine speed.

Sometimes, a bunch of grit can accumulate in the solenoid body / assembly. Remove the assembly from governor arm, and the generator should run at full speed. After cleaning, replace solenoid, and test. if stil failing, make sure solenoid works by applying 12 volts (usually) to it, to see if it kicks. If it does, look for break in wiring, or at control board.

This sounds like you have a Vacuum leak.

It looks like the auto throttle is controlled by a vacuum system. I would look there first. My guess is that the vacuum hose, item #580 on page D of the parts diagram, is either disconnected or has been damaged. If the vacuum hose is OK you will need to work your way through the vacuum assembly and inspect each part. The parts I would suspect are the check valve, item #564, and the diaphragm, part #560.

The vacuum hose is part #285804-16, the check valve is part #285804-01 and the diaphragm is part #285803-97. All of these parts are available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com.

I suspect that the vacuum line given the location may have a hole in it.

If replacing the vacuum line (Get it from any auto parts store in bulk and cut to length) does not correct your problem repost here and I will discuss setting the output.

Unless the device is switchable from 120V to 240V, you must use an inverter to operate it. Plugging a 120V appliance directly into a 240V outlet will always result in smoke and flames.

fuses do not have voltage ratings they are a current device. the 15 V does not make sense. It might be 15 A which is the current rating. A standing for Ampere which is the maximum current named after the discoverer of current creating magnetic fields being Andr?-Marie Amp?re in 1826. The 120v or 240v relates to the transformer design in the microwave. The transformer would be design to run on 240V AC 50 HZ AC like in Oz and UK or 120V 60 Hhz AC like used in the USA out of the power point from the power company.
Also the current relates to the voltage. So voltage divided by circuit resistance equals current.denoted by the formula I = V/R

Electric dryers are 240 volt. You must have a 30 amp 240v receptacle to plug it into. The cord on the dryer must have a compatible plug.
The circuit should not be shared with anything else, and should be protected with a 2-pole 30 amp circuit breaker.

It is possible for only one side of a 2-pole breaker to pop. When that happens one of the "hot" terminals would be dead and would account for the weird voltage readings you're getting which are just stray voltages from the one good side bleeding back. So Check your breaker first. You should get 120v on each terminal of the breaker and 240v between them. The cable leading from it should be 3-wire (red, black, white). It may, or may not, also have a seperate (bare) ground wire.

Then check voltages at the receptacle. You should get 120v between each hot side and the neutral, and 240v between the two hot terminals. If not, then check the wiring connections at the breaker and at the receptacle. Switch off the main breaker (or pull the disconnect) before doing that.

If voltages OK at the receptacle, but not at the control board then replace the power cord.

The ground wire should be fastened to a cold water pipe with a clamp designed for that purpose unless your power cord and receptacle have a separate (4th) terminal for the ground.

Electric Travel Cooker, Sanyo RN-AVA308, will not heat up, where can I have it serviced?

I have the same unit and the same model number. Mine also not heat up. upon investigation I noticed the heating element has a 4 wires which I believe each pair (2 wires) meant for 100/120V and the other one is for 220/240V. I checked 2 wires (1 pair) has an open circuit while the other pair is ok. I directly connected the heating element to the power and it was heated up. I measured the resistance and it was around 78 ohm. from my lame calculation this is for 100/120V heating element. the 220/240V was busted.

Since mine on 220/240V power grid, to use the working 78 ohm heating element the estimated power would be P=VxV/R, around 738W which is way too high than the rated power (365W) for this voltage. I plan to add the dummy resistor 82 ohm + 78 ohm heating element to reduce its power around 370W. Hope it works.

I have a coleman powermate maxa 5000 er Generator. Model # PM0525202. The powercord plug came loose and burnt the plug and the receptical(240). I replaced the plug and receptical and I am not getting...

If this is the model I am thinking of, there are 3 outlets. One 240V (L1, L2, Neutral and Earth ground. Some models use a 3 terminal receptacle that combines Neutral and earth.), one 120V receptacle (L1, Neut, earth) and another 120V receptacle (L2, Neut, earth).

If you verified fuse and circuit breakers are good, turn on the generator and verify you get 120V on each of the two outlets. Measuring between the narrow blades of the two 120V outlets should be 240V.
***Shut off the generator.
With a test light or ohmmeter, check continuity from the earth terminal of 120V outlets to 240V outlet. Likewise for neutral (wider blade on 120V outlet). Lastly, check continuity from Narrow blade of each outlet to the 240V outlet.

I suspect that you miswired neutral and earth. On a 4 wire PLUG, it is customary to connect earth and neutral.

The manual is generic across all the ET100 series products.
The manual does not describe individual models.
The instructions are on the timer door.
Look for the clock voltage.
The clock voltage tells the story of your timer model.

NOW lets say your clock voltage is 120V.
I believe you suspect the clock voltage is 120V.

To make this timer work with your 240V cable, there are 2 methods

Method 1) To meet code, run a white wire from nearby 120V receptacle.
This is a Neutral wire.
Connect the Neutral to terminal 1
Connect one leg from the 240V cable (1 of the 240V wires) to terminal 2 and that will complete the 120V circuit and the clock will run.
This is true because each leg of a 240V circuit is actually 120V, and only when the two legs are combined do they produce the 240V circuit

Method 2) Connect bare ground wire to terminal 1 and to grounding screw
The bare wire connects to the Neutral busbar in the main breaker box, so it will complete the 120V circuit just as described above.
This is not code, but your clock will operate.
Then connect one leg from the 240V cable to the terminal 2

IF your clock is 240 V, then connect both legs of the 240V cable to terminals 1 and 2

Voltage is adjusted by raising or lowering the engine speed (governor adjustment), however one must also pay attention to the rpm because your generator was designed to produce 120 volts at 60 cycles while turning 3600 rpm. Your electrician should have tested for htz while testing for voltage. I would recommend re-testing under load and adjust governor to turn 60 cycles to see resulting voltage.

110V is our common household current and 220v is used where heavier voltage is needed, like ovens, stoves, clothes dryers, air conditioners, electric water heaters, arch welders, etc.

check your center NEUTRAL connection to the element,sounds like your losing it somewhere,certain units rely on the neutral to operate the element on certain cycles to dry, the neutral carries the imbalance current load and the wire gets hot and will get brittle and break
