Check the fuse. I had that happen and low and behold, changed out the fuse and poof! Works great. When plugging in cables / chords to an outlet on a gen make sure its dry, and has no dirt on it. (Look behind the control panel first for a fuse, may have the type that screws in and holds the fuse in place)

Check the position of on/off switches, and circuit breakers that may be interrupting the flow of current.

The Wiring for this unit was screwed up in manufacturing. reverse the lines from the 120 side and the 120v end of the 240 pole. that should resolve the issue and you should also find that if you trace the wires back to the source on the dynamo they will now match/Pair up properly. Make sure to mark the wires you are swapping carefully and test under no load before load testing the unit.

check for low oil some have a low oil shut off system
