Bosch SilencePlus shows E:15, Aquastop, and Watertap!

I had a badly clogged kitchen sink on the same line that my dishwasher drains to. The clog has been fixed, but now the dishwasher says E:15, Aquastop and Watertap. Can't figure out how to reset the machine to clear these errors. Thanks!

To add some info... The dishwasher seems to think it needs to pump out water, but the bottom is empty. The pump comes on every 30 seconds or so. If I pour water into the bottom, it pumps out fine.

Hi Greg,

E15 on the Bosch units indicated the base switch is activated. There is a safety switch which will activate the drain pump to avoid the base overflowing. Basically you either have a leak or possibly rodents living in the base of your dishwasher.

Easy way to check is first make sure no water is inside the washing area or sump (where the filter is). You will have a dribble there which the drain pump won't pump out but make sure it is mostly empty. The dishwasher always drains at the beginning of a cycle if you need to manually activate this, just turn you tap off so it doesn't try to fill. unplug your dishwasher then pull the machine out and place some old towels along the base and tip if forward. If water run out from the base then you got a leak.

If you are a bit handy then you can take either the front kick plate and cover off or a side panel to look in the base. The float switch is a polystyrene disc which raises and hits a micro switch when the base fills up.

Common place for these to leak is the sump, wash motor or water path / distribution unit. Look for chalky white residue around the seals. Depending on the age of your unit some parts are more serviceable than others. Bosch are pretty good with spare parts so you should be able to source most items you need.

If you are not handy or technical and are concerned about taking on this work, call in a technician. Remember disconnect power before attempting any work. please.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: water build up in dishwasher- clogged drain

I would not recomment putting chemicals in the dishwasher. There is usually some kind of filter in the bottomt at you can easily take out and clean. It's common to have parts of labels and plastic clog this up.

Try removing and cleaning this first. It may also be reached from a separate hatch in the fronc of your dishwasher, depending on the make and model. Just make sure it's securly back in place before you start it afterwards, or you may flood your kitchen.

You may also try to disconnect the hose and blow through it to see if you may be able to blow back any objects stuck there.

If none of this helps your problem may be in the pump, and then it's usually a job for professionals.

SOURCE: bosch dishwasher SHX46 won't fill with water

My model is actually a SHX46 but I was able to piece together some advice off of this site. This is what I did. I removed the toe plate and then I soaked up all the water that I could out of the white pan at the bottom. Then I unhooked the water supply line so that I could pull the dishwasher out. Once I got it out, I tipped it forward to drain out the rest of the water. I then unhooked the drain line that was connected to the disposal and cleaned it out with a "Snake line" I then hooked everything back up and it worked. Thanks so much for this website, I know it saved me a ton of $$$$$$$$$.

SOURCE: Dishwasher does not drain, instead drains through overflow valve in sink. No apparent clog seen.

Usually the sink connection is not an overflow, it is the main drain from the dishwasher. It is more likely your s-bend is blocked under the sink- try putting a bucket under it and unscrewing the u-shaped piece and cleaning out (remember don't wash it in that sink while the pipe is off)

Why is there water standing in the bottom of my dishwasher after it has completed the wash and dry cycles.......

If water remains in the dishwasher after the cycles end, check the kitchen sink drain to make sure it's not clogged. If there's no clog, try pressing the Cancel button; most dishwashers run the drain pump when the Cancel button is pressed.
Check the dishwasher drain line, drain path and drain pump.

Dishwasher not draining

This could be due to a clog in the drain line. Most dishwashers are connected to the same drain line as the kitchen sink and most are ported into the side of the garbage disposal if there is one. Under the kitchen sink, look for a small flexible tube connected to the side of the disposal or teed into the drain line. Typically this is connected with a hose clamp, so just loosen the clamp and pull off the line. Have a bucket placed underneath to catch any water/waste present in the line. My bet would be that there is a clog at this connection. Be sure to tighten the hose clamp when you reassemble the connection. Another thing to look for is food particles clogging the drain INSIDE the dishwasher. If water is standing in the bottom, put on some rubber gloves and feel around the bottom center and brush aside anything which may be clogging this area. Some dishwashers have removable/cleanable drain traps which must be cleaned out by hand periodically. Good luck.

Dish washer water is clogged up

sounds like the pump is running but clogged. You might want to 1-remove as much water as possible by cupping it out manually,2- turn the breaker off and ensure no power, 3- take off bottom cover, 4-locate drain line (it will go into cabinet under kitchen sink-hooked up to sink line more than likely) and take off pump on dishwasher end and take off sink. you can remove the hose and see if and where clog is located.Grease is sometimes a culprit or other bits and pieces of food build up. You should also investigate the area where the drain line hooks into the unit and ensure that is clear. reconnect hose under sink and fish thru hole in side of cabinet to back of dishwasher. someone else or you can then reach under dishwasher to reconnect line to dishwasher. make sure drain is hose is connected properly at both ends! You'll probably need a phillips head screwdriver, 1/4" nutdriver and a pair of pliers

When my dish washer discharge water instead of the water going out the drain it come out the overflow valve.

The dishwasher usually drains into disposal, or directly into tailpiece, and water drains down to the p-trap.
Trap may be clogged or stopped up.
Clean out drain line, tighten connection where dishwasher attaches.
Clean out bottom of disposal under cutter blade.
Copy following link for clogged disposal, and drain line tips.

Newer Maytag dishwasher smells really bad inside

This problem can normally be fixed very simply and you can do it yourself.
1. There is a flexible drain line that goes from dishwasher to the sink drain line or garbage disposer.
2 You will find this flexible drain underneath the kitchen sink.
3. Make sure that the flexible dishwasher drain line goes up above the sinks lower portion of the sink basin and then comes back down into the sinks drain line or grabage disposer. The dishwasher flexible drain line must go above the bottom of sink basin like an upside down u shape, it will act as a upside down p-trap that you see under the sink in the sink drainline.
4. Once you have the flexible dishwasher drain line in this configuration (upside down U shape or p-trap) it will prevent air from leaking out of the dishwasher as the smell you are smelling is coming from the drian line.
5. You should also look inside the bottom of dishwasherr to make sure the drain screen is not clogged up.

Water in the bottom and not working

Check for a clogged drain (e.g.: via drain hose), or a water pump malfunction due to foreign obstruction (e.g.: glass, etc).

Note: If you changed a food waste disposer (kitchen sink area) and did not remove "plug" from disposer for dishwasher drain hose (assuming dishwasher drain hose connected to food waste disposer), then water cannot drain from dishwasher.

Cycle finishes but water is not draining

Sounds like too much water leftover.

Give me a make and model number of the dishwasher.

Check that the drain hose isn't kinked, and that where the drain connects at the garbage disposal at the sink isn't partially clogged. And, is the garbage disposal clean/clear of food stuff's.
I had a similar thing happen to me a few weeks ago, and it turned out the kitchen sink drain line was clogged.

Drain was clogged and the dishwasher overflowed. It's a 10yr old Bosch dishwasher. Now water won't flow into the dishwasher but it runs through the cycle and dishes arent clean.

Probably the aquastop (if you have one). We have a similar problem after our owerflow. The dishwasher is starting and running through the programs but no water is coming.

Main sink and d/w did not drain. Used plunger heavily. Did not work. Had main line jetted out. Now sink drains but d/w still does not. Older model Kenmore #1661590 Thank you

Hello playultimate,
I am assuming that your dishwasher drains either directly into your sink or through a garbage disposal as part of your sink. Regardless of which method is used, you need to verify that your dishwasher drain system is funcioning properly so.. make sure your dishwasher drain filter is free from debris.. if you are still having a problem ..it could be the pump is defective or clogged with food byproducts, the lines into and out of that pupm are clogged of the drain hose itself is clogged or pinched.. Once you have cleaned your drain screen inside the dishwasher, .. try cycling it withour dishes to see if you get a reasonable drain flow .. The key is to identify if its a clog/restriction or a bad pump... Hope some of these ideas will help solve your problem.. Get back to me if you are still struggling..
Regards,
Rick
