Sceptre LCD TV power come on, but there is no picture or sound.

Our Sceptre LCD tv is approximately 5 - 6 years old. It was working great until one day we came home from work turned it on and there was no picture.  We unplugged it. Checked all the cables and everything else has power and was working.  The TV came on but there was no picture or sound.

There are two easy fixes you can try. Both require you to take the back panel off. If you are not comfortable doing this, take it to a repair shop.
UNPLUG IT.
Place the TV face down on a soft/solid surface.
After you get the back panel off, there are three silver boxes. There are white and black wires leading from the off switch to the top silver box. Take the cover off that box.
Inside is a ceramic fuse. Test that fuse. If it is blown, your local electronics shop can find a replacement.
If not, disconnect the white and black wires from the PC board. Remove the 6 screws holding it in place.
Look for scorch marks under the board.
Cut a thick piece of plastic and tape id down over the scorch marks.
Re-attach the board with the six screws and re-connect the black and white wires.

Turn the power switch to the OFF position and plug in the TV.
Turn on the power switch while WATCHING the board you just removed.
If you hear a sizzle, turn off the switch and get a thicker piece of plasic.
If not, the TV should come back on.
Re-assemble the silver box and put the back on.

Hope this helps.

If there is a humming sound (very small) then you have most likely blown something (can berepaired)., also there may be some trouble with the cables if if there is any color it is most likely a communication problem..sorry tough to solve problems 500 miles away

The power light blinks blue, no screen, unable to turn on or off.

Hi Lewis,
Your tv needs to be checked by a TV tech. There is nothing you can do about it unless you are handy with electronic repairs.

Tv is on with no picture or sound, only 4 months old!!

Hello
The power supply regulator board to your set has the fault. If you try to open the set, or try to repair it by yourself, the warranty will void. The set must have warranty as it is new. Why do you spend for it? Just contact the nearest authorised service center for Sceptre. the components in this set will be very hard to get from open electronic spare part market, and will costly too.

42" sceptre tv, 5 years old, won't turn on

take a look at the the indicator light. is it lit when you have plugged the TV into a power socket? if it is not then the power supply of the TV is dead. If it is lit then there could be complications involving various parts in the back. Sometimes opening up the TV will show you blow capacitors or burned resisters that you can change out which will make the TV work. Try opening it up and taking a picture. Maybe some of us can take a look for you.

Not getting a picture from a Samsung 46" LCD TV

check if the back lamps are still on when you lose image, all you have to do is get close to the screen and make is totally black and if is not that means you have a back light working, but if the back light is gone you may have a defective panel.

talked to samsung TA about the same problem I had and the recommend to replace the power supply first to confirm a defective panel because a panel is quite expensive

Sceptre

It sound like either a power or power connectivity issue. I recommend that you first complete a hard reset on the tv (unplug all power to the unit and accessories for at least two hours, sometimes more. Then plug the unit and accessories back in. If that does not work then I recommend using one of our premium services or searching for a local repair service search button located on this page. Just type in your zip code.

Thanks,

CH
