I bought a replacement recoil starter for my 1850 at Pats small engine parts. The part number for a 3.5 B & S is 499706. If you look on the heat shield on the side of the motor there is the engine model and s/n. Hope this helps.

How do i change recoil on coleman powermate 1850 pull start wont go back in

I think the rope has jammed in the side of the starter's internal pulley. Remove the starter housing - you should see the rope bound up on the edge of the pulley. Free it up and put the housing back on.

My older Coleman Powermate Pulse 1850 is leaking gas from the grommet that connects the hose to the tank. I cannot get needle nose plyers inside the tank to tighten the nut (if there even IS a threaded nut...

I don't think there is any way to tighten or repair leak other then by replacing grommet. sorry I'm not much help but coleman powermate is no longer in business and I have had no sucess in finding a source for parts for you.Thank you and good luck.

Want to remove the starter recoil from my powermate generator

I got one of these pieces of junk, and had same problem you described.

You will need to remove the end panel to get to the blower housing. You will have to thread the rope through the handle until you have enough slack to remove the rope from the handle. The end panel should now be free to remove entirely.

Find the 3 bolts that hold the blower housing on, and remove them. Once you get it off, make sure that the rope has a knot in it so it won't get retracted into the pulley recoil assembly. Take a screwdriver and push the rope back down into the pulley (that was my problem). Assembly is opposite of taking apart.

I need to rewind a rope on pull start powermate generator

This requires a bit of strength in the hands and the recoil will have a fair amount of tension behind it. Best have a small engine service center look at. Not expensive

I have a Coleman Powermate Pulse 1850 Generator.

Hi,
If the generator hasn't been used for awhile the rotor may have lost it's magnetism. All you need is to re-excite it. There are several websites that explain how to do this. It's a good place to start.
