It's not likely to be battery, but fracture in ribbon cable to top screen causing this. Both screens must be connected or you get the symptom you've explained.

SOURCE: Help!!!

The unit need electronic service repair to find burnt parts and might be totally dead just because the battery was inside when wet and that can produce a short circuit.

You still can sell it to use some parts as replacements or buy a known working unit with cracked screens or broken hinge and rebuild. But all of that requires time and some expertise. Look for videos at youtube and broken units in ebay.

Sorry...

SOURCE: Ds broken? Green light blinks, bottom screen flashes, turns off.

You will have to open it up and desolder the fuse that says, F2, and then solder a small piece of wire onto the two spaces that the fuse sat on in order for you to bridge the fuse because it's probably blown. Then try powering it up. If it works, then you have just repaired it. If it doesn't then there must be another fuse that is blown. Try testing the fuses with a multi-meter. I am guessing that it could be the F1 fuse if the F2 fuse was also the culprit. Do the same thing to bridge the F1 fuse and then it should work.

SOURCE: DS Lite shutting off immediately after turning it on

Hi the sound and video goes thru a ribbon cable wires thru the hinge thru a ring you only have to drop it from a low coffee tablt to sever them also they wear thin from opening and closing them alot but they also suffer from dry solder joints I fixed one with the same symtoms as yours, It's bios was nearly falling off It must be a common problem as I have seen them with hard epoxy over it from the factory. (yeah she be right stickit on fellars) but the difference was it stayed on with no sound and no screens so I would lean towards the top screen replacement Hard to guess correctly also just in case check F1 F2 fuse but i doubt it Good Luck

Odds are there is corrosion on the board now, if it's been a couple of days, you can try some youtube videos and see if you can get it apart to check it out.
Since you already tried to turn it on before it was dried out, best bet is to find her one for Christmas, sorry about that.

My ds lite won't turn on.

Regular tap water contains minerals that are left behind as the water dries out. So, even if you did get all the water out, the minerals can still cause damage. In addition, the DS has a 'soft power switch' and that means that as long as the battery is in the device (as it probably was when sprayed) there is electricity present that can destroy the unit while water is there. Most probably, the water already did some damage when the unit got wet and the minerals and/or previous damage may have finished the job later when the unit was turned on. Some water may have even been left in the system since it can hide in areas that the dry rice will not be able to "draw" out. The best way to dry out a device is quickly remove the battery, take the entire system apart and clean the individual components and run some distilled water over the components to remove the mineral content of tap water before it dries on the boards/contacts. The DS lite system is relatively inexpensive these days, I think your best solution might be buying a good used one off Ebay (units can be had for around $50 today). May want to take apart any cartridge you had in it the old one and check for water in there, just in case, before using it in the new(er) one, too. Sorry for the bad news.

I dropped my ds i xl in a sink full of water but pulled it out quickly and i am trying to dry it but i tryed to turn it on while it was wet

Unfortunately the water might have short circuited your Dsi. What happened is that there is all this water in there, and then you sent an electric current through your Dsi and it short circuited. What I would recommend doing is immersing your Dsi in a bowl a dry uncooked rice, make sure it is covered. The rice will soak up the moisture and hopefully get all the water out. Hopefully your Dsi might recover but unfortunately there is a slim chance. Next time anything like this happens always wait until you dry everything before you turn it on. I'm not sure whether the manufacturer has a warranty or a policy in the case of getting a Dsi wet. I would call whoever holds your warranty with it.

Good luck!

Can you fix ds lite water damaged

as long as the screens are still fine and work just change the motherboard. You could try drying it out, but the mistake alot of people make is when water is spilt on it is to turn it on to see if it still works, your best bet is to just take the battery out and leave it for about 48hrs to dry out. good luck

Water damaged DS lite

It may need a new Battery or the inside may still be wet. Try the battery first-- ya can get them online and while you wait on the battery let the DS continue to dry out

Fell in water

Well - Your DS is very likely dead at this point. DO NOT "Just Turn It On to Check" This will almost certainly kill it.
If you have some basic electrical & mechanical skill, you could take it apart and have a look. Here is the general procedure for electronics that get wet:
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (like immediately) after it gets wet, turn off the device and remove the battery. If it has an internal battery, when you get it open, disconnect the battery immediately.
You will be looking for:
Corrosion
Short-Circuit Burns
Remaining Water/Moisture
If you have identified any corrosion or burns, best thing would be to chuck it.
If there is no visible damage, then pat dry any wet/moist parts. Let the unit sit open in a warm, dry spot for 24h to fully dry.
Reassemble without turning on.
Charge battery, or put in fresh batteries.
Turn on & hope for the best.

In your case, I would do the above, then with a multimeter - check the battery voltage. Then charge the battery for a few hours and check the battery to see if the voltage has increased. If so, you are getting a charge and the unit should power up if it has no damage.

Hope this helps, but really, it's probably dead. You can also find a local firm who fixes water damaged electronics & cellphones to see if they can help you out.

Cheers

DS screen

Just leave it to dry in a nice warm place. If you try to remove it you could end up damaging your ds or spread water all through it.

DS Light Power Problem

sklind2,

You have a defective screen (probably the upper). Replace it with a new one or send it to Nintendo for repair.

Mr. Teacake,

Never...never..put a wet cartridge in the DS Lite. Even when it is left to dry. Water is funnest for avery electronic device. You made for almost 99% certain a short circuit and blown out the microfuse (F1 or F2) on the mainboard. It could be much worse but check F1 & F2 first. See Google for their locations

Nintendo ds lite

Hi,
you,ll pay more to have it repaired than to replace it.
I,d suggest buy a new one.
Keep the old one for spares.
Once motherboards/Circuitboards get soaked, it damages the boards/components/solder joints.
