That is common as it finishes cooling it down to a certain temp before shutting down. when you turn off a car it actually gets hotter because it has no air cooling and no water cooling..

How long does it run? some cars will run the fan for a few minutes to ensure that too much heat does not build up under the hood. Wait for 5 minutes and see if it is still running when the engine is off. If it is you may have a bad temperature sensor. Does the engine temperature gauge work properly?
hi I had a Volkswagen golf tdi the fan would run after it was switched off. I think its to cool the engine down . don't think its a problem leave it for a couple of days and see.
I would want to know if the computer is grounding the fan relay to make it come on, or if the relay is faulty. On some models the computer turns the fan on to keep the radiator from overheating when the engine is stopped, but that should only happen with the engine at operating temp.
The fan will keep running long enough to cool the engine coolant. Sometimes it will take several minutes for the fan to shut off after the car has been turned off. It is a built-in feature in order to make sure the engine cools enough while sitting idle. Then, when you say the car dies, do you mean the fan shuts off and everything is quiet? If so, that is normal.
You are talking about the thermo electric cooling fan, its operation
is independent of the car's electical system. It is switched on and off
by the engine temperature. When you park, the engine heat soaks upward
to heat the thermostat turning the fan on. It will run until the engine
cools down and the thermostat switches it off. Quite normal operation.
It may be running because the engine hasn't cooled down. These fans will run until the engine reaches a specific cool temp. But if it's not running hotter than normal temp, it's within the temp switch, which reads the temp of the engine, or the relay could be bad and not know when to shut down. While you're driving look to see what the temp gauge is reading. This will lead you in different direction for the temp. switch.
