Washer is only three months old. I got the Error 35 also. Called Sears tech because Error 35 not in manual. He said something is wrong with the Steam mechanism. I haven't used this once since I bought the machine. Please help me be able to run a load of laundry!! I have to wait three days for a technician. RIDICULOUS!

  • abjern Mar 04, 2009

My washer is about a year old. It is not leaking, but every cycle starts, then goes into the SUD routine. After a few minutes the F35 code flashes. If we wait a while sometimes before re-starting the cycle it will run all the way through. The clean washer cycle will not complete at all. It takes forever to do laundry now any ideas on how to resolve this?

    Thanks!!

We have only had the washer for 2 weeks. Just noticed the F35 code. The washer is making the noise like it is running but nothing is moving. Any thoughts??

I had this error a couple of times too. The first time I encountered it I got a "SUDS" error and a few minutes later F35. I replaced the pressure switch and it worked great. I recently had the exact same symptoms. I replaced the pressure switch again, no change. Ordered another switch (in case the first new one was bad) - no luck. Ended up having to replace the master control unit. I now have two of the pressure switches and am selling them on eBay at a substantial discount. Go to: eBay Link -or- Go to eBay and search for the part number (W10415587). Mine is listed for $50 or $65 instant buy.

I have a Bachelor's in Economics...but this is such an easy fix even I can do it! The error code F35 is commonly associated with the Sud error, which comes on within a minute of running any cycle. It means the Analog Pressure Sensor (small plastic electronic circuit) has gone bad. It costs about $99 to order from Sears although they are on backlog, or you can get it cheaper somewhere else. It could also mean the Air Pressure Tube from the Sensor has a hole or isn't connected.
Once you get the new Sensor, remove the 3 screws holding the top panel inplace - they are on the backside on the very top. Remove the top and look at the far back upper right corner (looking from the front). There is a small crimson & black piece attached to the metal side wall with 5 blue wires & 1 black wire (pressure tube) attached to it. Make sure there are no leaks or disconnects...if not, then replace with new sensor - takes a little playing with to remove the old one & the wires. Replace lid and works like new! Saved $75 for the Technician call out and more $$ for labor.

This was the best solution, simple and very easy to install. The price has gone up a bit, I paid $136, but it beats the whole $75 charge and labor expense. Takes less than 15 minutes to fix, the most time consuming part is taking the old part out, just turn it counter clockwise and pull.

I had the sud/F35 code and washer would just hang on the F35; could not get it to finish any cycle. Sears man came out, diagnosed the pressure switch and ordered a new one. I just installed the new one myself last night and it now runs again good as new. I canceled the second visit from Sears. Interesting side note: he said these pressure switches were backordered or he would have had at least one on his truck so I wonder if these things are failing at a high rate.

This did not work or me. Replaced the pressure sensor and I still get the F35 error code.

Very easy to replace the sensor...hard to swallow that the $.05 of plastic that cost over $100 plus shipping. I did google sears parts discount code and found a free one that knocked $10 off the total. I also complained @ CPSC's Hotline at (800) 638-2772. It is nothing in my operation that made this part malfunction, the fact that Sears Parts had it backordered and no official parts dealers within 100 miles had the part on hand ought to tell them that this should be recalled! We are 4 loads in and praying that it keeps working, after spending over $100 at the laundry mat for our family of 6 I am still fuming that I stayed with Kenmore (last washer lasted over a decade) and they suckered me into a $2,000 investment in their washer/dryer system. I did take the front bottom panel off and clean the filter, pretty nasty but easy to do as well. Thanks for the help, I was determined not to pay Sears anymore than I had to.

Remove the bottom front cover.. you should see 3 screws..there should be a code pamlet.. about your leaking if you open the front cover and run the unit, you might be able to see it..

I too had this same error code and found it to be the water level sensor(or switch). The part number for this item is: W10415587. The model number for the HE5t Kenmore Elite Washer is Model # 100.47789701. The sensor cost me $88.59 plus tax from a Sears parts center. This is all the information you will need to find a replacement item to correct your problem. To replace the switch, remove the three (3) screws on the very top of the back of the washer and slide the top cover off. Look down against the far right wall (looking towards the rear of the machine from the front and you will find the switch on the top right rear side. Remove the rubber sensor tube at the bottom of the switch and then twist the sensor sideways and it should come right out. Next remove the wire plug and you're ready the install the new switch. Reverse the procedures to install the new part. Tis fixed my problem immdeiately.

SOURCE: washer starts to begin wash cycle then says suds then error code f35 appears then washer shuts off

F35 is a water level error.
The water level switch (pressure switch) has malfunctioned.

If you remove the top panel, three screws in the back, you will have access to the pressure switch.

With the tub empty, remove the vinyl hose from the switch and blow backwards through the hose to clear any restrictions.

If the fault codes return after doing this, you will likely need to replace the pressure switch.

Also - please be sure to use He soap.

The "SUDS" error can be caused by too much detergent, improper detergent, drain pump/drain line problem, or pressure switch malfunction.

1. If you are not using HE detergent, you need to be. These washers are designed to use HE detergent which is formulated for wash tubs that use 5 to 7 gallons of water. If you use regular detergent, you are, in affect, placing a higher concentration of detergent in the washer that is normally formulated for wash tubs that have a 35 gallon capacity. The manufacturer should have a disclaimer in the owner's manual explaining this. In most cases this will also void your warranty. NOTE: Prolonged use of the wrong detergent can damage the drain pump components and or wash tub seals.

If you are using the correct detergent, double check the label to make sure it is not double (2X) or triple (3X) concentrated. You could still be placing too much soap in your wash.

To get rid of excessive detergent, place the washer on a RINSE & SPIN cycle, then run it through a normal wash cycle with NO detergent added. You may have to repeat these steps depending on the amount of detergent used.

2. If you do not have a detergent issue, double check the drain pump and drain lines to ensure they are not obstructed in any way. Click on the following link for step-by-step instructions:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385844-checking_drain_pump_kenmore_elite_front

Obstructions in the drain pump and/or drain lines can attribute to air getting trapped in the drain pump and cause the error code. Double check all electrical connections to the drain pump and Central Control Unit (CCU). You will need to remove the top panel of the washer to access the CCU. This is accomplished by removing the three screws in the back of the washer that hold the top panel in place. With the screws removed, slide the panel back, then off. The CCU is located directly behind the wash tub in the center of the washer. The Drain Pump connector will be the 6th connector (facing from the front L to R) in the center of the CCU.

3. Check the Pressure Switch to ensure it is good. The Pressure Switch is located to the right of the CCU as you are looking from the front. It is a small cylindrical shaped device with a connector plug and an air hose attached. The switch can be checked at several water levels by removing the plug and taking resistance readings at the connector pins. Readings are as follows:

(Pins are numbered R to L facing the from the REAR)

Pins 1 to 2 (SUDS Detect) – 0 ohms
Pins 3 to 4 (Overflow) – 0 ohms
Pins 4 to 5 (L1) – 0 ohms
Pins 4 to 6 (Empty) – 0 ohms

Kenmore F35 error. Unit on washer drum that connects to the water level sensor has a pin hole and is leaking.

If you find a tear in the hose or loose connection in the air pressure tube, then this is the likely cause of your F35 error code. If the air pressure tube appears to be okay, then you will likely need to replace the analog pressure sensor.
